It Was So Hard! The Struggle to Publish the 'Pay It Forward Tree' Connection Map
Hello. I'm Koyori.
I usually write small stories called 'Forest of Life'.
Through a stroke of luck, I participated in LaLaLa's 'Pay It Forward Project' twice, and during that time, I created the 'Pay It Forward Tree'.
It's fun to watch the branches grow. Seeing who passed it on and where it branched off.
'Oh, this person's name is here for the third time. They're popular!'
'Oh, they're friends with this person. Huh!'
I enjoy it just like I'm reading a story.

When I looked at the names one by one,
in some places, it had grown up to 13 generations ahead.
…… 13 generations in one month??
Even the iPhone has only had 17 generations in 17 years, right?
I couldn't help but make a strange comparison.
Looking at everyone's connections like this, various things become visible.
What I thought was especially wonderful was
the people whodid not passthe baton to the next person.
I don't want to burden the next person.
It might be a nuisance.
There wasconsiderationin each of those choices.
Passing it on to someone is kindness.
Being considerate of someone is also kindness.
I felt very warm when I read the articles of people who made those choices.
Of course, I think it's also important for the project to continue to the next person.
Not letting the kindness received from someone end with yourself. That is why these connections have spread this far. That is a wonderful thing.
But I believe that 'paying it forward' includes all the thoughts put into each individual episode.
By the way, LaLaLa herself wrote this in her article on August 10th.
More than the result of 'whether it connects or not,' your action of 'wanting to support' itself becomes energy that makes the town of note a kinder place.
That is also the part of this project that I love.
By the way. Getting back to the map,
while I was hand-drawing it, I suddenly thought,
'It's a waste for only me to see this.'
If possible, I'd like everyone to see it,
and just look at it and go, 'Huh!'

So I tried consulting with AI.
'Can I digitize this hand-drawn map?'
And then, it was unexpected.
After this, it would end up heading in an unforeseen direction.
▶︎ Why did it end up like this!?
I just wanted to digitize a hand-drawn map
Episode 1: AI was a god. I still knew nothing.

It was instantaneous. The AI wrote the code, and when I displayed it on the screen, it worked perfectly.
Pressing ▶︎ opens the branches. Pressing it again closes them.
If you scroll, you can see the whole thing.
'Wow!!'
I was completely thrilled.
Plus, I can update the contents later.
I can also add those who participate later.
⬇︎This is it. Please try tapping it.
Up until this point, it was truly amazing.

I just told the AI what I wanted to do, and something that worked appeared right before my eyes.
Naturally, I thought, 'AI is incredible!'
But I didn't know yet.
That publishing it would be much harder than creating it.
Episode 2: Tell Me Sooner!! 💢
I'll say it upfront.
I don't know anything in detail.
I'm not even in a profession that uses computers.
HTML?
What's that?
Code?
Makes no sense.
Programming?
Scary, scary 💦
At that time, I heard that I could publish it if I used a service called 'CodePen'.
In reality, I struggle even just creating one account. Even getting a note account was difficult.
Why am I, of all people, trying to release something into the world that I don't really understand but seems impressive?

In the end, I couldn't do it with CodePen.
I don't know the details.
It was sad to have zero results after touching it a little bit 😭
But this was still just the entrance.
It starts from here. That's when the outlook became even more ominous.
Episode 3: Getting Lost in the Forest Called GitHub
GitHub?
What's that?
Having already had a bitter experience with CodePen, I reluctantly created an account.
And then, to my surprise, the forest of GitHub was entirely in English.

Have you noticed?
That what I'm doing here isn't even programming.
Take the code the AI created for me, put it where I'm told, and save it. That should be the goal for now, but man, it's so far away.
Every time an unknown word appears, I stop.
Every time the screen switches, I stop again.
It's not progressing at all.
'Is it okay to press this?'
'Is this the right place?'
'I don't understand English. Where to next?'
Every time, I ask the AI.
Yesterday, I probably said
'What is this?' more than at any other time in my life.
Episode 4: I Took a Break and Got Stuck
I was honestly a bit tired, so I took a break.
When I opened my computer a while later...

In the end, it just meant I had to log in again.
Is there anyone else
who is as clueless as I am?

Episode 5: Finally Managed to Publish. And Then I Discovered a Divine Feature at the End
But, after all the hardships, I finally did it.
My page was out on the internet.
'Wowwww✨!!'

It was here that I finally understood the true meaning of a URL.

* * *
I was exhausted by the end, but I was truly happy that I managed to take something created by AI and publish it myself.
The 'Kindness Connection Map,' which started as a handwritten note, finally made it off the paper yesterday.
Congratulations to me🥳
So, anyway.
All I wanted to do was digitize the map, but this was the story of how I spent my holiday going on an adventure to GitHub.
...Someone please praise me😭
Thank you for sticking with me through this struggle story😅
Chasing after the connections that grow every day takes more time than I imagined, but I still want to see how far these branches will grow.
And I want to share that view with all of you. That is what I think.
If you find yourself thinking, 'I'd like to see what happens next,' I would be happy if you could support Koyori a little.
Comments and follows make me very happy too.
I'd be even happier if you supported me with tips or memberships (just kidding🤣).
I'm looking forward to the connections that will be born from here on out🤭
※ When participating in the project, please use the hashtag #PayItForwardProject so it's easier to find.
If you'd like, check this out too⬇︎
🖋️Up to this point, I've written about 'my connection to paying it forward' in several parts.
Now that I've made so many connections, I'm going to retreat back into the 'Forest of Living' for a while.
With gratitude to everyone who has connected with me🥰
Thank you as always for your support⬇︎
New evidence of the incident has been found⬇︎
