Kanno Kanon
I was drawn in all at once by the shocking introduction.
The structure is impressive, where the bizarre setting of waking up as a cat clearly highlights the protagonist's complex about their appearance and their motivation to be "liked." Realistic worries like the desire for a smaller face and an obsession with cheekbones feel real even amidst the strange events, giving persuasiveness to the narrator's train of thought.
Also, the modern sensibility of not fully panicking and thinking "I'll probably turn back eventually" is skillful, and the gap between the abnormality of the situation and the calmness of the mind created an exquisite sense of humor.
It was a story that left a slightly bittersweet aftertaste, depicting escapism and the fulfillment of desires with the same emotional temperature.
Submitted works

It made me think that the resolve to decide to rest and actually do so is perhaps what modern people need. I want to go to a hot spring...
Hiroiten
Embarrassingly, this was the first time I learned about the part called "Tai no Tai" (the fish-shaped bone in a sea bream). My heart warmed as I watched the time of three generations overlap peacefully.
Suzuran
It was a story that drew me into a worldview where fantasy and daily life naturally melt together. The conversation with the small dragon affirms the resting adult and leaves a gentle lingering impression.
tomado
I read it with a smile, seeing the familiarity seeping through what might seem like a fruitless exchange. The final acceptance of the situation is refreshing.
akashiba555
It was a story with a unique flavor, wrapping a surreal scene in polite hot spring etiquette. The lingering attachment to the bottled milk adds a human touch to the whole story, leaving a soft aftertaste.
Hareruya ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ.
I smiled at the protagonists who had managed to become friends with the capybara. The laid-back humor makes me want to read it over and over again.
Kairoudouketsu
The pending issue was so shocking that I'm overly concerned about the 'completely off-base' arguments made so far. I am a firm believer in pajamas immediately upon waking.
kaze
It was a story where the lightness of footwork and the obsession with hot springs matched in an exquisite balance. The appearance of the hermit makes my imagination run wild about what happens next.
Watariame
My heart tightened at the hint of loss seeping through the innocent words. It was a story where the connection of a family could be felt through the scent of bath salts.
Hayabusa
It was a story that realistically depicted the hardships of caregiving and the temperature difference between the husband and wife. The 'hot spring just for me' found at the end presses poignantly on the heart.
Miwakarasu
I read it with a smile, catching a glimpse of the closeness between the two in the conversation that progressed while being slightly out of sync. The laid-back atmosphere warms the heart.
Hajime Kaga
I almost teared up at the development from the common trope of giving a serious response to youth slang (?) to spending a gentle time with a grandfather. It leaves an aftertaste where everyday words turn into memories.
Mikan Katagiri
It was a story with a pleasant flow as the axis shifted from the realistic motive of prize money to the joy of singing. My heart warmed at the small moment of self-affirmation.
Akane Sasaki
I teared up at the development where reality flips while maintaining the temperature of the conversation. The sense of loss that reaches the reader late at the end remains as an aftertaste.
Kei Osu
I take my hat off to you for being able to create such a grand story from this prompt. My heart warmed at the story where a quietly burning love comes to fruition.
Haruhi
It was a story where a friendship of few words emerges in the contrast between the cold night air and the steam of the public bath. The ending, where a small sense of positivity dwells in the time spent drinking milk side-by-side, is pleasant.
Drive-in New Ajito
A lighthearted story featuring a strangely mismatched conversation between a writer and an editor, blending hot springs, gourmet food, and wordplay. The way they race toward the bucket of sake is hilarious.
Kie Shiraishi
A novel story combining math trivia with hot spring descriptions, where the professor's bizarre love for saunas accelerates through mathematical formulas, which is quite funny.
Ryu
A story where the honest feelings and revelations shared in the calm atmosphere of a hot spring inn are quite memorable. Behind the lightness of the conversation, a sense of kindness and a touch of danger linger as an aftertaste.
Nozomi-chan
A story where the comedy of trying to use table tennis as a catalyst for love, only to have it blow up in their face, coexists with a sense of poignancy. The protagonist's immaturity and optimism seep through their impulsive smash.
fuff
A fun story where a grand plan is revealed through casual family conversation. The structure is excellent, as the mundane punchline brings the story back down to earth instantly.
Iru Nagisa
A story that carefully depicts the emotional fluctuations of anxiety and relief pushing against each other. The lingering feeling of landing on a small, modest happiness is warm.
Tsumugi Aide
A story where the commotion, born from the atmosphere of a hot spring inn and obsessive preferences, exquisitely brings the characters' outlines into focus. The lingering feeling of converging into a gentle body temperature is pleasant.
Mizutama
I empathized so much with 'Teron is the best' that I nearly broke my neck nodding. It was a story with a gentle aftertaste, where small daily obsessions highlight the distance between the two.
Short Short no Eki
A lighthearted story contrasting the anxiety of insomnia with the bustle of the monkey hot spring. The small resolution made after returning to reality left me feeling positive as well.
SoraUmi | Soraumi no Esoragoto
A story where the psychology of clinging to luck after a series of falls is depicted vividly. The unsettling atmosphere that drifts in at the moment of reaching the peak leaves a strong impression.
Marugo
It was a story where the final sentence made the atmosphere feel instantly relatable. I felt a sense of kindness in the structure that carefully scoops up a child's sense of shame.
Jun-san
It was a story depicting a night on the threshold of adulthood, where the sense of liberation after a hot spring overlaps with the melancholy of the final days of student life. The sweetness and precariousness remain as a lingering aftertaste.
Moyoron-san
It was a hot spring tale where reality and the otherworldly gently melt into one another. Behind the noisy yet warm interactions, the sense of security in being accepted sinks into the heart.
yama-san
It was a story that felt refreshing just to read. The process of getting one's feelings in order was realistic, and it gave me the strength to get through tomorrow.
It makes me want to go to a hot spring and relax.
Thank you very much!
