[3-Minute Novel: Extra Edition] Night and a 3-Minute Escape — A Playlist for 3-Minute Novels🎧 [11-20]
Last night, the 3-minute novel series finally reached its 30th installment, so following up on the previous post, I will introduce the 10 songs used for installments 11-20🎧
11. Tadashii Machi (The Right City) | Ringo Sheena
I love Ringo Sheena. I love every song on the album "Muzai Moratorium," which includes "Tadashii Machi." I first heard it when I was in elementary school; even as a child, I felt a sense of sadness, and after becoming an adult, I came to understand the meaning well, and the scenes in the lyrics would appear before my eyes. I expressed those scenes exactly as they were in the story.
12. Mou Nidoto... (Never Again...) | BENI
The second part of a trilogy. [3-Minute Novel] 17:00 Intersection | Orange - SMAP This is a story that continues from there, featuring common tropes of rural life. I would be happy if the Heisei-era gals who were becoming adults at the time could relate to it.
13. Kaerou (Let's Go Home) | Fujii Kaze
Fujii-san's singing voice is so gentle and warm, and it made me feel the sunset. I wanted to make it a heartwarming story, so I wrote a scene on the way home, just like the song title suggests.
14. Rewrite | ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION
I wondered what kind of story I could create with this sense of speed, so I focused on the title "Rewrite." I expressed the impulse to completely erase the dark history of my youth. As someone with a lot of dark history, I really love this story (lol).
15. Sign | Mr.Children
My favorite Mr.Children song! I wanted to write about a happy moment, and after layering delusion upon delusion, I felt a door opening the moment the chorus started. I thought, 'This is the moment the church door opens!' and wrote about the instant ten minutes before a wedding.
16. Nando Demo (Again and Again) | DREAMS COME TRUE
Since the posting date was the day before Valentine's Day, I tried my hand at a romantic comedy for the first time! I dyed my brain pink and channeled a pure high school girl. Maybe I was the type to be aggressive too? After writing it, I found myself reminiscing about my distant student days (lol).
17. Mikazuki (Crescent Moon) | DREAMS COME TRUE
A song that a girl I adored (my brother's ex-girlfriend) used to sing at karaoke when I was little. I didn't understand it at the time, but I realized later that she was singing it while thinking of my brother, who was out playing around.
The story is about a secret love that can't be told to anyone. I thought a love that would never be fulfilled was perfect for this song.
18. Amy | THE ORAL CIGARETTES
Actually, I had already thought of the next story I wrote, "Youshi Tanrei na Uso," first. While I was thinking about the story, a female vocalist appeared, and the moment I realized, 'Isn't this Amy!?', the story of Amy descended upon me (lol).
So, I wrote stories for two songs almost at the same time. The idea for the top image also came to me along with the story, and it was so much fun to write.
19. Youshi Tanrei na Uso (Beautiful Lie) | THE ORAL CIGARETTES
This is the work that follows the previous one, 'Amy,' and the header image is, of course, inspired by Amy. Writing the story and creating the image were both incredibly fun! I felt that this is the true essence of writing 3-minute novels.
Ah, I want to go to a live concert. I want to dance until I drop!
20. Sharin no Uta (Song of the Wheels) | BUMP OF CHICKEN
The season of departure. Thinking that many people might be leaving their families, I wrote a story about family. The lyrics of this song are written with such care that the scenes come to mind vividly.
The slightly folk-like melody is so gentle that it brings back memories I don't even have (I get too emotionally involved), and I end up crying every time.
Summary 🪽
The header image is a drawing I made about 10 years ago. It's a screenshot from a single frame of a short video I made featuring a shooting star.
Well, I have introduced the songs used in 3-minute novels 11 through 20. They are truly wonderful songs, and I think I have good taste for picking them out (I'll be quiet now).
If there are any songs you haven't heard before, I would love for you to listen to them once via the links above. And please, enjoy the 3-minute novels along with them ☕️
