Who is SUNmaru? Self-Introduction and Thoughts [SUNmaru's Thoughts]
Who is SUNmaru?
"I wonder who this person is."
I believe that being thought of in that way is, surprisingly, my greatest value.
Soccer, futsal, and working at three different universities.
There is one common thread in this background that might seem disjointed at first glance.
That is that I have always been"acting for the sake of others."I love the moments when people grow.
I love the process of an organization gradually improving.
I love finding the spark that helps someone move forward.
That is why, whether in my work,
in team management,
or in my writing,
I find myself doing the same thing over and over.
In this note, I share thoughts on:
・Growth of people and organizations
・Development and leadership
・The job of a university staff member
・Career development
・The power of words
・Interpreting fairy tales and folklore
・Simple questions about daily life
Why do I share these things?
The reason is simple.
"Tobe useful to someone."
Things I have experienced so far.
Things I have failed at.
Things I have worried about.
Things that went well.
Things I have kept thinking about.
I would be happy if these could serve as hints for someone else's decisions or actions.
And sharing is also a way for me to organize my own thoughts.
There are things that become clear only by writing them down.
There are things that can only be understood by putting them into words.
That is why I am writing again today.
A life walked alongside soccer
I started playing soccer in the lower grades of elementary school.
In junior high and high school, I was selected for regional representative teams.
That is where I felt something.
That there is always someone better.
Above the regional team was the southern prefecture team.
Above the southern prefecture team was the prefecture team.
Above the prefecture team was the Kanto regional team.
At the time, it felt like there were layers of ceilings above my head.
That experience still has a major influence on my values today.
I entered university on a soccer scholarship, but I quit the soccer team to continue playing in adult leagues, experiencing transfers between multiple teams.
Some transfers were for stepping up, while others were because I felt uncomfortable with the organization.
Upon graduating from high school, I started a soccer and futsal team centered around alumni of my high school soccer club.
We disbanded once when we started working, but
"Let's get together again when we turn 30."
We left that promise behind.
And we really did reunite.
Currently, I manage a futsal team with those friends.
I also continue to be active in a separate adult soccer team.
Before I knew it, I had been facing people and organizations for over 20 years.
The organizational and development theories I share now are built on these experiences.
My journey as a university staff member
The core of my job hunting has never changed.
"I want to do work that helps someone."
When I was a university student, I happened to find a job opening for a university staff member.
That was my encounter with this profession.
So far, I have worked at:
・A private co-ed university (approx. 7 years)
・A private women's university (approx. 12 years)
・A national university (currently)
The work of a university staff member is broader than one might imagine.
I have experienced many departments, including academic affairs, admissions, planning, public relations, and the career center.
In particular, I have worked in the career center at all three universities.
While facing students with different academic levels and environments,
I have kept thinking about how people grow
and what kind of people are needed in society.
The growth and career theories I share now are born from those experiences.
By the way, at my first university, I also had the opportunity to serve as an advisor for the volleyball team.
Although I had no competitive experience, I even joined an adult volleyball team for a time.
Looking back, perhaps my life has been one of facing people and organizations through sports.
Values I cherish
There are things I cherish in life.
・The "Nankurunaisa" (everything will work out) spirit of always looking forward
・Not hurting others and not disrupting the harmony of a space
・Observing people, environments, and the atmosphere
・Being punctual
・Switching between on and off modes
・Continuing to make an effort
・Pursuing efficiency as well
And above all,
"acting for the sake of someone else"
is something I cherish.
My work,
team management,
and my writing
are all extensions of that.
About words
Another thing I cherish is "words."
Depending on how they are used, words can hurt people.
Conversely, they can also be a force that helps someone move forward.
Even with the same event, the view changes depending on how you perceive it.
That is precisely why I do not want to treat words lightly.
I want to deliver words and ways of thinking that make people feel a little more positive just by reading them.
I write articles like these
Thank you for reading this far.
If you are interested, I would be happy if you could start by reading these articles.
Growth of people and organizations
University Staff Series
Interpreting words
Interpreting fairy tales from a modern perspective
By the way, when I tried making a creator directory as a project within Note, it turned out so yellow it was unbelievable (lol).

Please refer to this article for the details!
Finally
By the way, it seems that just looking up can make people feel a little more positive.
That is why I love the sun.
And I love sunflowers, the flowers of the sun.
Sunflowers grow while following the direction of the sun.
I want to be like that myself.
Based on my experiences in soccer and as a university staff member,
I put the growth of people and organizations into words.
I write articles that I hope will make the reader feel a little more positive.
I would be happy if you could follow me if you like what you read.
May these posts and thoughts be of use to someone, somewhere....
