My reviews are terrible, so I decided to draw fan art instead

Exactly as the title says.

As I wrote in my profile,"An office worker who writes and draws"I love both writing and drawing.
Even though the Creative Awards are reaching their climax, my desire to draw has surpassed my desire to write, so to satisfy my own cravings (and also as training to improve my drawing skills...), I put out a call on X (formerly Twitter) for people who would let me draw their characters.

Thanks to my lovely followers spreading the word, I had 10 people reach out to me in no time. (Thank you!)
I closed the requests for now because I would be over capacity if any more came in...
After keeping you waiting for a very long time, I have finished drawing fan art for each of your works! So, I would like to summarize them here along with my thoughts (half of which are just my own delusions).

※The order is based on when you reached out to me!

No. 1 My Undercover Investigation / Aruron-san

A work where the banter between the transfer student, Narinari Soe, and his merry friends is delightful. I really loved the tempo of the conversations and the lighthearted retorts.
If it were to be adapted into a drama, I'd want them to use some slightly cheap-looking CGI. On purpose. I think ORANGE RANGE would be perfect for the main theme song.
Miyu Amanofu-san wrote a review articleand said,"People who like Ace Attorney will surely like this"and I was curious what she meant by that, but now I see. I'll state it clearly too: if you like Ace Attorney, you will absolutely love this work.

By the way, I thought my favorite character was the student council president... but I think it's Soe-kun after all. The way he pushes straight ahead on the path he believes in is cool.

Doesn't it seem like if Soe-kun fell in love, he'd just charge off in the wrong direction? I can see a future where his efforts are completely misguided and he's constantly being stopped with all his might by Toypoo-kun. Wait, that's super cute... Well, he'd probably make all sorts of mistakes, but he'd definitely be devoted and express his love straight on, right? Woo-hoo!

※This is the author's delusion
#WhatAreYouTalkingAbout

And so, here is the finished drawing↓

This is an image of them having a strategy meeting in the student council room. From left to right: Toypoo-kun, Soe-kun, Megane-ne-chan, and Nanmado-chan. I want the four of them to just keep messing around together forever!

No. 2 Decide Your Bounty / Mikumayutan-san

I love these kinds of tense stories... (Who am I?)
NTV Saturday 10 PM drama(like Voice: 110 Emergency Command Center, Pandora's Fruit: Science Crime Investigation File, or the current 9 PM series like Sho Sakurai's "XXX Occupation" series) dark atmosphere! The moment I finished reading it, I found myself wanting more: "Wait, where's the rest? Is there a sequel?"

The depiction of the protagonist Otsuka's attitude toward his work reveals the pride of a writer that I'm sure Mikumayutan-san herself keeps in mind every day, and it gave me chills... You really are cool, Mikumayutan-san.

Personally, I can't help but be curious about the interrogator, Yabuno. If you dug deeper, there's definitely a lot going on with this person too... It would be super exciting if there were a Yabuno past-arc in a sequel. I don't want a spin-off on Hulu though (lol).

And so, here is the finished drawing↓

I don't think I've drawn many pictures with a dark atmosphere before! So I took the plunge and used darker colors than usual. The sharp-looking one in the foreground is the interrogator, Yabuno, and the slouchy one in the back is my image of Otsuka.

No. 3 Not Even a Picture / Hanamura Tomoka-san

A world where drawing pictures has become a common language. My first impression was, since I'm someone who draws and I was bad at foreign languages, I thought, "So you don't have to worry about a second foreign language?! That's great!" But of course, it wasn't that simple.

The protagonist, Tomo-kun, is better at verbalizing things than drawing. If he lived in a different era, he surely would have had a place to fully unleash his potential, but in this world, he feels out of place. Personally, I think it's fine for a kid like that to exist, but if someone asked me, 'How would you explain that to others (especially the majority)?', I'd be at a loss. I might even fall into despair over my own helplessness in being unable to do anything.

The courtroom scene toward the end was so tense that I read it all in one go! It left me with a feeling of despair that the world doesn't change easily, but also a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, it might change a little. That was the feeling I had after finishing it.

Verbalizing is so hard... Tomo-kun, can you summarize what I'm thinking in a nice way? (lol)

I'll draw a picture for you instead.

So, here is the picture I finished↓

At first, I only had a hazy background, but I was overflowing with the desire for Tomo-kun to find some salvation, so I added light. It turned into a nice color, and it's one of my favorite parts.

No. 4 The Weekend Detective and the Shadow of the Vita Band / Maiton-san of Emu

I was reading along thinking it was a fun story with Maiton-san's signature light humor, but then it turned into a solid mystery and I was so excited (the author loves mysteries).

The pairing of the aloof weekend detective, Hibiki-san, and the hot-blooded detective, Motoyama-kun—two people who seem like they wouldn't get along—facing a case together is great, isn't it? You can never have too many buddies like this.

Hibiki-san has these suggestive monologues throughout, so I was worried that once I found out his true intentions, I might accidentally fall for him... what should I do? That was a different kind of suspense from the main plot. I accidentally fell for him. (What do you mean by 'accidentally'?)

Later, I learned that this was based on a short-short story. I am so curious about what's going on inside Maiton-san's head. It's just too amazing.

So, here is the picture I finished↓

Hibiki-san starting a deduction show like a certain Furuhata.
I was a bit puzzled by the idea of a 33-year-old being told 'You're surprisingly young!', but I discovered that beards can actually make you look quite old... #WhatAreYouTalkingAbout

Going off on a tangent, I think it would be cute if Hibiki-san's Furuhata impression wasn't like him at all (lol).
Motoyama-kun, with his expressive face, was fun to draw.

No. 5 The Case of Going to Roswell to Find UFO Fragments / Momonga Yamazaki-san

This was my first time reading a work by Yamazaki-san, but the writing is so beautiful and glossy that I fell in love with it in an instant. I'm a fan. I want to read so much more.

The work I read this time is a story about the protagonist, Momoka, traveling to Roswell, USA.
However, I also really like the scene at the beginning where Momoka and her friend Saki spend time together in their room. It's not flashy, but it conveyed that their casual daily life is an irreplaceable time.

On Momoka-chan's journey to Roswell, she has wonderful encounters and surprising incidents occur. There are depressing descriptions and exciting developments. But everything felt like it settled quietly into my heart, and after reading it, I felt strangely calm.
By traveling with Momoka-chan, maybe I found something too.

So, here is the picture I finished↓

My image of Momoka-chan the moment she arrived in Roswell. I aimed for an expression that looks like something is welling up inside her.

As an aside, I wanted to see the Roswell scenery that Momoka-chan saw, so I searched for images, but before I knew it, I was engrossed in reading "Mu".

By the way, it seems there is a sequel to "Roswell...". I'm going to read it now too!

No. 6 Love is a Pentagon / Umami Sogyoku

My first impression of the protagonist, Masaki, was, "Wow, he's so shallow..." Information on dating techniques, matching apps... I started reading thinking he was the type of person furthest from me, but as I read, I started to see a side of him that was "surprisingly scatterbrained," and his emotional ups and downs over the results of the matching apps started to seem endearing. In the end, I found myself rooting for Masaki. The gravitational pull of Masaki is truly formidable.

The charming characters are apparently based on Noters who are friends with the author, Umami Sogyoku.
They were all looking forward to it from the moment I was first approached, and I was nervous about whether it was okay for me to barge into such a close-knit group... but once I started reading, I forgot all about that. In fact, thanks to not knowing the people they were based on, I might have been able to enjoy the world of "Koi-Peta" purely.

So, here is the picture I finished↓

Masaki-kun, excited as he imagines the next girl he'll meet. I drew this while hoping to capture the sparkling feeling of the work. I hope Masaki keeps chasing beautiful women without wavering...

No. 7 The Flip Side of Kindness / Rika

Every time I'm told "You're kind," I feel a bit suffocated.

This first line made my heart skip a beat. As I read on, wondering what it meant, I felt an overwhelming urge to give Rika a hug.
I think many people have experienced the feeling of no one saying the words they want to hear right now, but Rika says...

Since no one said it to me,
I started saying it to someone else instead.

Give before you receive. I think Rika, who can do that, is truly kind. She wrote about her internal conflict, calling it "the flip side of kindness," but if it were truly the flip side, I think she would be flaunting it and acting like, "Aren't I kind?" So, from my perspective, I took Rika's "kindness" as pure "kindness" instead.

So, here is the picture I finished↓

I drew this with the hope that warm, gentle colors would wrap around Rika, who thinks so seriously about "kindness."
At first, I colored the girl with a single solid color, but I reconsidered, thinking that Rika herself is a sufficiently warm person, so I added soft, fluffy colors over the whole thing.

No. 8 Hoofprints of Hope: Beyond the Last Run / Miya ~Slowly Progressing~

Former genius jockey Liam and Flora, who came for a ranch experience, become mentor and student and take on a race... I thought, "Wait, isn't love going to bloom there?!" while reading.

This is about me, but I love the tiny bits of romance in work-related novels... just a little is fine, just a little. If there's too much romance, I start to feel like, "What about the work?"
In that respect, this work is basically a composition of Flora, who communicates with the racehorse Legacy, and Liam, who trains her, so the core of the work-related novel is solid, and I can read it with peace of mind. Because the core is solid, the scene where Flora reveals her feelings really made my heart ache.

Flora is such a straightforward, good girl, and if such a junior joined, it would be dazzling... It's understandable that Liam would be moved. It was a story that reminded me of the straightforward feelings one has toward work.

So, here is the picture I finished↓

The description of Flora's eyes in the story was impressive, so I decided from the beginning to focus on her eyes. I wanted to draw both the fresh feeling of when she first came to the ranch and the tense, stinging expression before the race, so I packed both in.

No. 9 Sukui / Rinka Sanjo

This is a story that could only have been written by author Rinka Sanjo.
While it is strictly fiction, I wonder if Rinka-san's own experiences and struggles were projected onto the protagonist, Lira. Her sincerity toward every single thing she puts out into the world, and the way she receives the comments she gets. It was heart-wrenching to see Lira take things seriously that a third party would easily dismiss by saying, 'Don't worry about things like that.'
At the same time, it reaffirmed for me that the reason I love the writing Rinka-san crafts is precisely because she values and cherishes words.

Speaking of love, oh, I completely fell for Natsume. I told myself I shouldn't go for the type who starts off with a negative impression! I'll say it now, but Natsume, your initial attitude was, no matter how you look at it, the worst! It's a miracle you were able to turn it around halfway through!

...is the kind of thing I want to needle him about. I want Natsume to just brush it off with a 'yeah, yeah.'

If I were Natsume's colleague
#WhatAreYouTalkingAbout

And so, here is the finished drawing↓

I combined one scene from the beginning and one from the end of the story. They are similar scenes, but they leave completely different impressions. I intended to depict a sense of exhilaration for the beginning (right side of the illustration) and an expression of relief for the end (left side of the illustration).

No. 10 Goodbye Ring Finger. / Yuzu

The conversation between Yuri and Mayumi had the atmosphere of a realistic girls' night out, and I was immersed from the very beginning. I love the comfort of Yuzu's work, where the tempo of the dialogue is good and you can read it easily without feeling tense. (Even though the content of the conversation is super serious.)
It's sprinkled with developments that make you go, 'Wait, what?!', so I read it in no time at all.

We live in a world where diversity and respect for individuality are shouted about, but I think there are still many people who actually feel stifled. However, in this story, all the characters live freely and comfortably, even while struggling. Although the themes it deals with are by no means light, it was a very lighthearted story.

By the way, my favorite is Mayumi-chan. In the story, Yuri-chan says, 'I've always loved her frank way of speaking, so I can't miss our monthly meetings,' and I certainly would want to meet a girl like this every month. I feel like Mayumi-chan would be able to blow away even grumpy topics in a refreshing way. Ah, I want to drink with her. Mayumi-chan seems like the type to eat dried stingray fin...

And so, here is the finished drawing↓

I drew this with the intention of it being Yuri-chan. Is the hand on the other side her friend Mayumi, her husband Kazuhiro, or perhaps Takaaki who introduced Kazuhiro to Yuri...? Please read the work and imagine for yourself!

Bonus

This is fan art for 'Minutes of Yukino Sanada, Personnel Department (by Miyu Amafu)', which was the inspiration for this project.

Kadokura, who wants her to just guess, and Yukino-chan, who wants words.

Read the work here↓

Once I drew one, I wanted to draw more, so I tried doing a project like this, and it was truly fun.
It was a good opportunity to challenge myself with art styles I don't usually draw, functions I don't use, and compositions I avoid.
Thank you to everyone I drew for!!

I was also happy that people I was meeting for the first time this time reached out to me, and that my circle of creation expanded. I was able to read stories in genres I don't usually read, and I gained a lot.
I am grateful for these encounters, and I hope we can continue to have a good relationship in the future.

My drawing skills were not enough, and there are so many parts I couldn't fully express, so if you haven't read them yet, please go and read everyone's original works...!

#CreativeAwardReview

It was fun, so regardless of the Creative Award, I'd like to do it again in the future!
