The last day of September. Why not think about "what not to do or what you don't want to do" for the start of the second half of the year?
"Tomorrow is October 1st, the second half of the year begins!"
"Maybe I should challenge myself with something new."
"Maybe I should put more effort into my side hustle or note."
Today, the last day of September, I think many people are feeling that kind of motivation.
And so, they write big goals on the first page of their October-start planners and list out many "things to do" for them.
I love excitement, so I really love making plans.
But, even if you set goals,
"I'm too busy to do them"
"I don't have any breathing room, and I haven't made any progress at all"
and the plans end up falling through.
I'm sure you've had that experience too.
But the reason your plans don't progress as you'd hoped isn't because you're lazy or because you aren't trying hard enough.
So, it's okay not to blame yourself or feel down.
I just want you to think about something else before you start writing down "things to do" or "new things to start."
That is,"What not to do" or "What I don't want to do"๐ก
There are only 24 hours in a day, and you are already busy enough and working hard enough.
If you add "working even harder" on top of that, you'll exceed your capacity and burn out, right?
So,instead of "what to work hard on," why not first decide "what not to work hard on"and create some margin in your time and heart?๐ซง
I previously wrote an article called "Let's make a list of things not to do."
I personally felt much more at ease after deciding things like:
โ
I won't cook anything other than miso soup and hot pot
โ
I won't ride crowded trains (I'll commute during off-peak hours)
โ
Even though I'm a geek, I won't buy random merchandise
But I think many people feel, "I don't have the courage to suddenly decide, 'I'm not doing this anymore! Goodbye!๐'!"
There are also those who say, "I can't think of anything not to do..."
I think that the kinder and more responsible a person is, the harder it is for them to decide "not to do" something.
I am just a lazy person who even at work says things like, "Is it really necessary to do this?" or "Can't we find a way to stop doing this?"
That's why it was relatively easy for me to decide on "things not to do"... haha
Kaonashi-san, who read my article,Kaonashi, also honestly shared in a comment that they "couldn't think of anything not to do."
If, like Kaonashi-san, it was difficult for you to think of "things not to do."
Why not try thinking from the perspective of "things you don't want to do"?
When you think about "what you want to do" or "what you won't do," an unconscious brake inevitably kicks in, making you think, "I can't do it anyway" or "I probably won't be able to quit."
But if you just write down "what you don't want to do," you don't have to decide anything, and you have no responsibility.
So, you can just write down whatever you want, saying "I hate this! I don't like that!" as your heart desires.๐ฑ
And in that list, your "true feelings" will appear.
Hiro's "list of things I don't want to do" included the words,
I don't want to give up on what I want to do because of money
I believe that is truly a voice from Hiro's heart.
I believe that is truly a voice from Hiro's heart.
Mana's "list of things I don't want to do" included,
ใปBlaming myself for having days when I can't work hard
ใปNot being able to protect the people who are important to me
That is what was written.
At the root of it is a desire to care for others, not just yourself.
That is how I felt.
For the second half of the year starting tomorrow, hold back your excitement for just 10 minutes.
Why not start by thinking about "what not to do or what you don't want to do"?
If you do that and create some space in your heart and time,
the possibility of your "wants" coming true will surely increase significantly.๐
For those of you who think, "I can't even think of what I want to do," I am also providing a workshop on "how to find what you want to do."๐
Once you have decided "what not to do," let's work on this workshop as well and start a fulfilling second half of the year.๐ฉ
On Chizu's note,
โ I want to live by valuing my own "likes"
โ I want to like myself more
I provide words and actions to support you in doing just that.๐
The following words I want to share with you๐
Thank you for reading๐ซง
As a return for your "Likeโค", our mascot girl "Uchinoko" would like to thank you๐
Follows, comments, and tips are also very encouraging!
