[Changes in Time in Your 50s] Final Episode | How shall I live my time from now on? ~The 50s, when I finally started thinking about 'my own time.' The future that has come into view beyond that~
Final Episode | How do I want to live my time from now on?
In this series, I have written about 'time,' 'money,' 'ways of working,' and 'my own time.'
At first glance, they might feel like separate themes.
But to me, they are all connected.
It is not just my age that has changed since entering my 50s.
How I face time.
How I deal with money.
How I work.
And how I want to walk through the rest of my life.
Little by little, the things I want to cherish have changed within me.
⸻
My children have grown up, and the flow of time in our home has changed little by little.
They haven't completely left the nest yet.
Even so, my own time is gradually returning from the days that were centered entirely on my children as they used to be.
In the quiet moments, there is something I often think about lately.
How do I want to live the time that lies ahead?
⸻
Actually, it might still be a dream story, but I have a dream that is gradually taking shape in my heart.
It is to create a place where my children can always return.
I am currently living in a rental.
But someday, I want to have a 'castle' of my own.
It doesn't have to be a big house.
It doesn't need to be a luxurious house.
A place where they can return and say, 'I'm home.'
A place where I can welcome them with, 'Welcome back.'
A place where both my children and I can feel at ease.
Having such a home is my dream right now.
⸻
And in that dream, there is always a log house.
A house wrapped in the warmth of wood, where time flows slowly.
A life where the wind blows through when you open the windows, and you can feel the scent of the seasons.
The images I post on note are actually layering that ideal scenery little by little.
For me, a log house is not just a house I want to live in.
It is a 'place to return to,' and
a 'place where I can live like myself.'
I think it symbolizes both of those things.
Putting it into words.
Picturing it.
Giving it shape little by little.
I feel that such accumulation will lead to the future someday.
⸻
And there is one more thing I want to continue.
That is writing on note.
To put the thoughts within me into words and leave them behind.
While writing this series, there were moments when I thought, 'I might be a little different from the me until now.'
But now that I have finished writing, it is different.
This was not a special story.
About time.
About money.
About ways of working.
And about my own time.
I think all of these were true feelings that I had been quietly sensing in my daily life.
⸻
Having reached my 50s, there are things I have understood.
Time is not something that just decreases.
I think it is something to re-select what is necessary for the life ahead.
Money is not something to just save.
It is something that enriches life by using it in a way that I can be satisfied with.
Working is not about continuing to push yourself.
It is about changing it into a form that suits me so that I can continue to walk for a long time.
And my own time was
a precious gift that returned to me, the me who had worked hard for someone else.
⸻
I don't know yet what kind of life it will be from here on.
But there is one thing that is clear.
I want to continue to age in my own way while spinning words.
Without rushing, without comparing, one step at a time.
While aiming for a place where my children can return with peace of mind.
And I myself,
want to accumulate days where I can think,
'I am glad I lived this life.'
⸻
Surely this is not the end of the story.
It is a new time that begins from here.
To everyone who read this series to the end, thank you very much.
May your time from now on also
be peaceful and true to yourself.
⸻
Notice
While writing this series, I myself thought about it again.
What is it that I really want to cherish in life from my 50s onwards?
If there is anyone who feels the same way,
'Lately, I feel like time passes so quickly'
'I want to think about how to deal with money from now on'
'I am wondering if I should continue my current way of working'
'I want to regain my own time once more'
If you have such feelings, I would be happy if you could read from the first episode.
To commemorate the completion of the series, I have made the paid articles from the first to the fourth episode available for 100 yen each.
In these four articles, I have written about the changes and hesitations I actually felt after turning 50, and small realizations for organizing my life from now on, while incorporating my own experiences.
・Episode 1
'On the feeling that a year is over before I know it'
・Episode 2
'The reason I started to have hesitation in spending money'
・Episode 3
'The day I thought about whether I could continue working in nursing care like this'
・Episode 4
'My children have grown up, and my time has returned a little'
If you would like to read this series from the beginning, I would be very happy.
I will continue to write about my daily life in my 50s, the swaying of my heart, and small realizations in my own words.
