I am entering the Creative Awards 2025 for the first time.😺
I have entered the fantasy novel category this time.🙂
As a fantasy enthusiast, I decided to enter this year's Creative Awards.
Since this is the first time I've written based on 'Shosetsuka ni Naro', please take a look if you'd like.
This post is the opening Chapter 1.
It might feel a bit incomplete, but please understand.😅
Also, since this is my first time posting a novel, I'll note the estimated reading time.😊
~Chapter 1: Estimated reading time 5-10 minutes~
Synopsis
Ray Magnaforce is a commoner boy with infinite magic power—yet he cannot use any magic at all.
While attending a magic academy with his childhood friend Filia, aiming to become a sage, he is branded as 'incompetent' by those around him.
One day, memories of a mysterious stone he encountered in his childhood resurface, and its secret appears before Ray once again.
Eventually, he begins to demonstrate glimpses of power that defy the common sense of magic, and is forced to make a choice that will drastically change his destiny—a story where unknown truths and trials await is about to begin.
Chapter 1: The Boy Called Incompetent
In this world, magic power was everything.
Noble or commoner. Glory or failure. Loved or abandoned. One's value was determined entirely by 'how much magic power one possesses'.
Those with high magic power could wield powerful magic, control fire, summon lightning, cut through the wind, and even use 'myth-class' magic that could manipulate time itself.
And there is a system to measure it.
--Magic Aptitude Test.
In this country where entrance qualifications have been swayed by magic power, the prestigious "Magius Magic Academy" with over 200 years of history has always prioritized magic power when selecting students.
--Once, over 100 years ago, the person who boasted the highest magic power in this academy was the existence later called the "Sage," Magius Selecion.
Now, even that glory is passed down as a legend of the academy.
"Ray Magnaforce, S-Rank. Magic power, the highest in history... and beyond."

The entire classroom falls silent. It was the moment the crystal in front of him shone with a dazzling blue, reacting so strongly that the measurer gasped.
◇ ◇ ◇
However, despite having vast magic power, he was met with a wave of ridicule that turned his praise on its head.
"Him again? Is it time for Mr. Wasted Magic Power's performance?"
"All show and no substance. Even though he can't cast a single spell."
"To think he has S-Rank magic power but can't even cast a single fireball."
Ray didn't retort, keeping his gaze lowered. He had no choice but to press his lips into a thin line and endure the surroundings.
That attitude only lowered his reputation further.
His magic power is considered hero-class, no, on par with the sages of the age of gods. Even so, Ray has never once successfully cast a spell.
He had put in the effort. He arrived at school earlier than anyone else and stayed later than anyone else, desperately studying incantations, magic circles, and theory.
Yet, magic never manifested. Days of being laughed at as an "Incompetent Sage"—Ray's heart sank at that reality.
--Even so, there was a small hope in his chest.
"Someday, I want to reach that position. I want to become a 'Sage who can freely use magic' like Magius Selecion."
With that wish, he continued to work hard again today. His conviction was second to none.
◇ ◇ ◇
In the garden after school—Philia Crest called out to him softly.

Her golden hair swayed in the breeze, and her amber eyes narrowed sadly.
"Ray, you were told again today, weren't you..."
Philia is the most talented student at this academy. She has mastered superior healing magic and barrier techniques, and is highly regarded by the faculty for her future.
But even so, she was always on Ray's side.
"I'm fine. I'm used to it."
Ray gave a bitter smile. Being the serious person he is, he would never abandon his conviction no matter how much he was laughed at.
"But—it's frustrating. That's wrong. I know you better than anyone, Ray. I know you're working harder than anyone else."
Shaking her shoulders in anger, Philia focused her eyes. Being the competitive person she is, she never bends once she has made up her mind.
"Thank you, Philia. But it's okay. I will definitely prove it someday!"
"Yeah. ...Please, never give up."
Swearing to each other in their eyes, the two nodded briefly.
◇ ◇ ◇
A few days later, the academy's practical exam was held.
It is the most important exam where each student demonstrates magic according to their given amount of magic power and is evaluated based on their level of completion.
The stone monument in front of the school gate is inscribed with these words—
"May I hold in these hands magic power that surpasses Magius Celesion"
Ray stood as if in prayer and began his incantation.
"Incantation start. Fireball!"
However, nothing appeared in the void.
The judge, a teacher, frowned, and the students laughed in unison.
His score was "zero." And then, just like that—expulsionnotice arrived.
◇ ◇ ◇
Driven out of the academy, Ray passed through the suffocating school gate at dusk and left without anyone seeing him off.
In his heart, along with bitterness, a shred of resolve had sprouted.
"It's not about the capacity of my magic power. I will become a sage who cannot use magic."
Leaving behind his feelings of frustration, he began to walk toward the mountains.
◇ ◇ ◇
Deep in the forest—in front of an old shrine, Ray stopped.
This place was wrapped in a silence that felt untouched by human hands for a long time.
Patterns resembling ancient characters were carved into the moss-covered stone monument. Even though he shouldn't have been able to read them in modern language—
Strangely, Ray could see their meaning.
《Magic power is merely a vessel. The true sage converts it.》
At that moment, an intense light burst from the depths of the shrine, and the ground shook. The air twisted, and a strange presence filled the area.
Ray's magic power was reacting to something inside his body.
It was a strange sensation running through his blood vessels, into his muscles, and to his nerves—throughout his entire body.
The next moment, a voice echoed in his head.
“Sage, awaken. You who inherit the forgotten 'Physical Conversion Formula’.”
“...What—can I do?”
With that question, something—awoke within Ray.
