Small tips for waking up refreshed [Alarm clock] [Cannot wake up] [Cannot hear]
Being a long sleeper is tough.
I usually have trouble falling asleep and can't wake up feeling refreshed in the morning.
On top of that, I'm a long sleeper. If I don't go to bed early, tomorrow will be rough.
I still envy people who only need four hours of sleep.
Well then.
I want to stay in bed for even one second longer in the morning.
But I can't afford to do that. In times like those.
I have been practicing Yuru gymnastics that can be done while lying in bed.
Simple. Feels good. Can be done while lying down. A skill that lasts a lifetime once you try it.
Yuru gymnastics while lying in bed, or 'neyuru'. It feels great.
However, this doesn't help me wake up feeling sharp.
It feels good to lazily swing my legs or wiggle my hips.
I want to keep wiggling like this without getting up. This won't help me get out of bed.
The hint is the 'bon no kubo' (occipital hollow).
A Yuru gymnastics book I read recently.
'Takaoka-style: The Ultimate Fatigue Recovery Method'.
The final chapter, chapter four, 'The greatest brain fatigue recovery method for high performance in history' is amazing.
The basics are in this method. It is also explained in the video. The neck area is delicate. Massage gently.
Furthermore, this book provides an explanation of the occipital hollow divided into upper, middle, and lower sections, detailing how the angle at which you rest your head can relax your back, calm your mind, or stimulate your brain.
When I actually tried this, it helped with eye strain, cleared my head, and made my back feel better. It's really, really effective.
Wake up from the brain in the morning
Inspired by this occipital hollow massage, the 'Brain Stem Mozo'.
While you're still rolling around in bed unable to wake up, place the base of your thumb against your occipital hollow.
Then, slowly move your head to find the spot that feels just right and massage it.
Well, this is!
How incredibly pleasant it is!
This occipital hollow massage.
It's not just for recovering from fatigue; it also works wonders to snap your groggy morning brain awake!
It feels like the acupressure points in the occipital hollow are stimulating the brain intensely.
Summary
Occipital hollow massage while lying in bed.
It doesn't have the instant effect of a '10-second charge!', but it really clears your head.
I feel like I can escape from my futon ten times faster now.
As a point of caution, as mentioned in the 'Brain Stem Mozo' videos and books, the area around the neck is delicate. Be gentle, very gentle.
If you want to know more about brainstem wiggling, please read Chapter 4 of the book, "The Greatest Brain Fatigue Recovery Method for High Performance." It contains more detailed instructions.

Postscript
Fascia roller, is that what it's called?
This is incredibly effective for massaging the occipital hollow.
The roller has protrusions that provide a nice stimulating sensation.
When your eyes are tired. When your back hurts.
Lie down and use this as a pillow to sharpen your brain and eyes. While you're at it, wiggle and squirm your back to release the tension there too.
I use this roller before bed.
The height as a pillow is a bit too much.
So I take a hand towel, roll it up, and secure it with a hair tie.
I place it against my occipital hollow. Placing a towel knot smaller than a fist against the occipital hollow provides a soft, pleasant stimulation.
I massage with the towel before bed and also right after waking up.
