I do not know how much meaning prayer holds. Even so, ever since that day, it had become Kaito's morning routine to pray for the safety of the planetary explorers and the success of their mission.

To store hydrogen, the fuel for nuclear fusion power generation, in a stable manner, hydrogen storage alloys were essential. However, the hydrogen storage alloys manufactured with elements found on Planet Earth had a limit to their storage capacity, and it was necessary to discover new elements to store more hydrogen.

Thanks to the super-gravity device developed in recent years, it became possible to warp through outer space, and planetary exploration had begun. One of the purposes of planetary exploration was to find those new elements, and the explorers were required to be individuals with specialized knowledge.

When Kaito was eating miso ramen in the cafeteria of Bakken (General Chemical Research Institute), Director Marius sat in the seat next to him.

“Is the selection of planetary explorers progressing?”
“Yes, the selection is complete. All that remains is to receive approval.”

“I see. Since it was decided quickly, they must be reliable personnel.”
“Yes. They are the most reliable.”

A few days later, the approval was granted without issue. Kaito headed to the planetary explorer to inform them of the result.

“It has been officially decided. You will go on a planetary exploration mission to find new elements.”
“Understood. I will do my best for Earth.”

“Are you anxious?”
“I have some anxiety, but I am more excited.”

“Well, the risk is definitely lower than going to Earth, which is contaminated with radiation.”
“Yes. Besides, I only know about the colony, so I am very interested in what other planets are like.”

Finally, the day to depart for planetary exploration arrived.

“It is finally time, Shion.”
“Yes. Take care, Father.”
