I was thinking about the man who sold clouds.

When Shion was a child, his father Kaito bought him cotton candy, and the name of that cotton candy was 'Cloud.' Shion remembers asking Kaito, 'What is a cloud?' Born on a space colony, Shion had never seen a real cloud.

On the space colony, water is filtered and reused through special filters. Therefore, the water cycle does not occur, and clouds do not form.

Shion was assigned the mission to explore a planet called 'Gaia.' Gaia has real clouds. While imagining clouds that looked like cotton candy, he chatted about Gaia with the other explorers who boarded the spaceship with him.

When the spaceship left the space colony and entered outer space, it used a super-gravity device to distort space and warp near Gaia. To explain warp simply, it turns 'I' into 'Ω'.

Let's say the left end of 'I' is Earth and the right end is Gaia. Using the super-gravity device, we distort space like 'Ω' and connect the bottom bar of the 'Ω'. Warping is taking a shortcut along that straight bottom bar from Earth on the left to Gaia on the right, without going through the curve above.

Once the spaceship approached Gaia, it switched to manual control, entered the atmosphere, and landed safely at the designated location.

Another explorer had already infiltrated Gaia and was preparing to welcome Shion.

“Thank you for the long journey.”
“No, it felt like no time at all.”

“Everything is ready for your life on Gaia.”
“Thank you.”

“On Gaia, you will be 'Shion'.”
“Yes, I heard as much from my father. I had people call me Shion on the space colony as well so that I would get used to it.”

It seems that the Shion of Gaia lost his family in an accident when he was young and had no relatives, so he was chosen as the target to be replaced. Being accepted into Science University also seemed to be one of the deciding factors.

On the day the Shion of Gaia was to leave the orphanage to move into the university dormitory, he was stunned by a special ray gun by an explorer who had been lying in wait, and was taken into custody. He is currently in cold sleep inside the spaceship.

“Then, you will now go to the Science University dormitory.”
“Understood.”

After having the explorer install information about Gaia into the IC chip embedded in his body, he rubbed his temple with his index finger and read the information regarding Shion.
