I went to the office with salt.
"Go sprinkle some salt, lol"
That's what my wife told me, Inves.
With my resignation just around the corner, I was summoned by my company via LINE.
I've already finished the handover.
My desk is cleared out.
Yet, they keep asking me to rewrite my resignation letter over and over.
It's just salt. But it's salt nonetheless.
With the "salt" tucked away in my right pocket,
I headed to the office for the first time in a while.
What I felt.
How I put an "end" to my resignation.
I will write about that today.
👛 The rest of this is paid content (100 yen).
Only to you who read the rest of this,
I will honestly tell you "why I brought salt"
and "what I felt immediately after quitting."
LINE from the company: "Can you come in?"
"Inves-kun, I need you to rewrite your resignation letter.
Also, there's something I want to ask you about work,
so can you come in on either Saturday or Sunday?"
...
...Phew.
"............Nankurunaisa (It will work out somehow). (I chant it three times in my heart)"
"How many times are they going to make me rewrite this resignation letter? What a pain."
"Wait a minute... Actually, the work inquiry is probably the main thing."
....
Thinking that in my heart, I replied to my boss on LINE.
"Yes, I understand. I will be there around [time] on Sunday."
When I told my wife about it,
she said this to me.
"Go sprinkle some salt, lol"
I said, laughing.
"Huh? You don't really have to go that far, do you?"
I replied, but the reason my wife would go that far is because she knows my true feelings.
She knows what's really in my heart.
My frustrations with the company (and my boss) are as follows.
"Even though I'm on leave before quitting, I get work calls and LINE messages every day."
→ What do you mean by 'every day'?
"I didn't like that, so I created a handover document with a foolproof system."
→ I wrote down 80% of the possible scenarios, didn't I?
"I left the handover document, but it doesn't feel like they're checking it."
→ Did you throw away the documents I gave you? They ask the same things every time.
"Basically, I told them to call if it's sudden or urgent, and to send a LINE message if it's not."
→ There have been zero sudden requirements. They ask about almost everything by phone.
"It doesn't feel like they're reading the manual or checking with the specialized department."
→Should I just tape the phone number of the specialized department they know best to their foreheads?
...But you know,
The main reason. Just one.
That is, everyone together now.
Ready, set!
The human relationships are "the worst." That is the only reason.
→ (I knew it!)
First, the atmosphere in the department is bad, so there is no mutual verification system.
→ As a result, I get calls. → Well, it's an extension of work, so it can't be helped.
→ They come every day. → That's definitely strange. → Even when I listen to the content, they ask the same things over and over.
→ As a result, I want to scatter salt. (Infinite loop).
It's not 0 to 1. No matter how many numbers there are, it's a vicious cycle that leads to 0.
How important a "person who is always in a good mood" is as a talent.
They are truly "talent that must be cherished at the national level."
Even so,
What's with the real intention and public stance of scattering salt? lol
Either way, that's no reason to scatter salt.
Inves, you're an idiot.
"Well, fine... being an idiot is fine too."
"I'll take this opportunity to scatter salt and purify the company..."
......
Wait, Inves.
What is the point of that?
What if someone sees you sprinkling salt?
You're quitting anyway, right?
Don't worry about it anymore.
I know.
I'm not that stupid.
And then, it became Sunday.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!
I found salt!!!!!!!!!!
And it's good salt, too. (Not table salt.)
It's sacred salt.

Yeah, this is good.
It feels like it's going to be super effective.
There's a decent amount of it, too.
The salt is fine and looks easy to scatter.
This is going to work.
Where is this salt from?
Three or four years ago, I bought this salt at a place called "Hoshida Myokengu".
I'm amazing for having bought this salt that day. (For what?)
Feeling a mysterious sense of accomplishment in my heart,
I put the salt in my right pocket so I could scatter it at any time.
Since there's a lot of it, my thigh looks a bit bulky.
"Alright, let's go. (To scatter it.)"
"I wonder why, my heart feels light."
"Good morning, Manager."
"Oh, good morning."
"Right away, this and this"
"Yes, understood."
"And, about this task..."
"Yes, this is in this document in this folder"
I'm writing in detail.
Understood.
With few words exchanged, I prepared the documents and
reconfirmed the progress of the work.
I finished my business in about 30 minutes,
and my desk was clean and tidy once again.
Well then, time to go home. (Alright, time to sprinkle some salt.)
...Inves-kun, thank you for your hard work. I'm sorry for troubling you so many times.
I didn't have much leeway either. Thank you for coming.
No, please try not to overdo it, Department Manager.
...Thank you.
No, thank you as well.
I caught a glimpse of the Department Manager's fatigue and true feelings.
Those words were, just a little, something I was grateful for.
I had intended to quietly
sprinkle salt where no one could see before leaving.
That's enough for now.
In the end, I didn't scatter the salt.
It wasn't worth scattering.
Just feeling the weight of the salt in my right pocket.
That alone made me feel somehow relieved.
While walking down the hallway on my way out, I happened to run into
a colleague from another department who noticed me and widened their eyes.
Is it rumored even in other departments
that I'm quitting because of interpersonal issues?
I took a breath.
"Oh...! Long time no see... how are you?"
"I'm doing well while on leave. Just here to submit some documents and clean up."
Seeing me appear so suddenly,
the colleague looked a bit bewildered, but
"Oh, I see. Good work."
"Yeah, see you later!"
I said in a much louder voice, as if to cut them off.
I exited through the employee entrance.
It was an indescribable feeling.
I felt refreshed and clear-headed.
I went straight to a convenience store to buy a sports drink,
and headed to my usual park for my daily run.
I ran 5km.
Along with a pleasant sense of fatigue, I felt a sense of accomplishment.
When I got home, took off my shoes,
and said, "Hoshida Myokengu shrine, thank you very much,"
while thanking them and putting the salt back in the entryway,
I wondered, "Honestly, was the salt necessary?"
But I immediately thought, "Yes, it was necessary."
In the end, I didn't scatter the salt.
But to move my clouded feelings one step forward,
that salt was certainly necessary.
It wasn't salt for purification,
but salt I needed for my own "next action."
At the end, I licked a pinch of salt.
Since I had just finished running, it tasted good.
I've reached a good stopping point to move on to the next thing.
The end
Notice and gratitude
To those who paid to read this far
Thank you so much.
I am truly grateful.
Next time, the paid content will be about "Inves's investment story".
I will write about it.
The reason a salaryman in his 40s was able to decide to resign.
The investment methods Inves used before resigning.
I look forward to your continued support next time.
