Comparing Egg Freezing Costs in Tokyo [2026] | 90 Registered Facilities with Tokyo Subsidies & Storage Fees
When considering egg freezing, the main concern is likely “how much it actually costs.” isn't it?
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government provides subsidies for egg freezing costs to women aged 18 to 39 at the time of egg retrieval who reside in Tokyo. for those eligible.
For the fiscal year in which the egg freezing is performed, the subsidy is up to 200,000 yen. For subsequent years, provided that the individual responds to surveys regarding storage, a subsidy of a flat 20,000 yen per year is planned until fiscal year 2028. *Egg retrieval and freezing for the purpose of fertility treatment are not covered by this program.
In this article, we investigated the costs of freezing 8 or 10 eggs at the 90 facilities listed in the “List of Medical Institutions Registered for the Egg Freezing Support Survey Project (as of June 12, 2026)” published by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
Fee survey date: August 6, 2026
For those who wish to compare clinics including future fertility treatment options, please refer to our article that compares treatment track records based on publicly available data from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
How much does egg freezing cost in Tokyo?
The cost of egg freezing varies significantly depending on the number of eggs frozen, the method of ovulation induction, anesthesia, and storage methods.
Additionally, some facilities offer package prices that include medication costs, while others set separate fees for egg retrieval, freezing, and storage, making it difficult to simply compare by saying “the market price in Tokyo is X yen.”
Therefore, in this article, for the 90 registered medical institutions in Tokyo, we investigated:
・Cost when freezing 8 eggs
・Cost when freezing 10 eggs
・Subsequent 1-year frozen storage fee
by approximating the conditions to be as similar as possible.
Reasons for comparing the costs of freezing 8 and 10 eggs
Some facilities change their fees based on the number of eggs frozen.
According to a survey by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the average number of eggs actually frozen in a single retrieval is: 25–29 years old: 10.7 eggs; 30–34 years old: 10.4 eggs; 35–39 years old: 7.8 eggs.
Therefore, this time, we calculated the fees based on two patterns:
“8 eggs” (based on the 7.8 average for 35–39 year olds) and
“10 eggs” (based on the 10.7 and 10.4 averages for the younger age groups).
We calculated the fees based on these two patterns.
Items included and not included in egg freezing costs

The amounts for “8 eggs” and “10 eggs” in this article are, in principle, the
cost for the first year of egg freezing + the subsequent 1-year frozen storage fee.
The first-year cost, in principle, includes the costs necessary for egg retrieval, culture management, and egg freezing.
On the other hand, outpatient fees, pre-examination fees, blood test fees, ultrasound fees, and ovulation induction medication costs are not included in these costs because the amounts vary depending on the number of clinic visits, the content of the examinations, and the type and quantity of medication used.
In particular, the cost of ovulation induction can sometimes exceed 100,000 yen depending on the medication used.
However, some facilities do not have separate pricing for egg retrieval and freezing, but instead offer package pricing that includes examinations, medication, anesthesia, etc.
In such cases, the package price is listed as is, and noted in the remarks. Also, to make future maintenance costs easier to understand,
the 1-year cryopreservation fee is listed separately.
Because the fee structures and included services vary by facility, they are organized by ward and city rather than a simple ranking from cheapest to most expensive.
*Fees were verified on the official websites of each medical institution as of August 6, 2026. Please check with each medical institution for the latest fees.

Tokyo's Egg Freezing Subsidy is Capped at 200,000 Yen
Tokyo's egg freezing subsidy covers medication for egg retrieval preparation, the retrieval procedure, and egg freezing, with a maximum subsidy of 200,000 yen for the fiscal year in which the egg freezing is performed.
However, since this article generally excludes outpatient fees, testing fees, and medication costs,
the calculation is not simply "price in this article - 200,000 yen = out-of-pocket expense."
When actually considering egg freezing,
"If I freeze 8 to 10 eggs, what is the total cost for the first year, including everything from egg retrieval to freezing, plus the storage fee for the following year?"
Asking the medical institution this question will make it easier to understand the total cost.
Frequently Asked Questions About Egg Freezing Costs
What is the average cost of egg freezing in Tokyo?
Egg freezing costs vary depending on the number of eggs frozen, the ovulation induction method, anesthesia, and storage methods.
Additionally, because some facilities offer package prices that include medication costs, while others set separate fees for egg retrieval, freezing, and storage, it is a treatment that is difficult to compare based on a simple average.
In this article, we calculate the fees for each facility based on two patterns: 8 eggs and 10 eggs, which are close to the actual average number of frozen eggs.
How much is the Tokyo egg freezing subsidy?
The subsidy for the fiscal year in which egg freezing is performed is up to 200,000 yen.
Additionally, by responding to the survey on storage, a subsidy of a flat 20,000 yen per year from the following fiscal year onwards is planned until fiscal year 2028.
Are there annual storage fees for egg freezing?
It depends on the facility.
In addition to facilities that require annual storage fees, there are facilities where multi-year storage fees are included in the initial cost, and facilities where fees vary depending on the number of eggs or containers stored.
Therefore, it is important to check not only the first-year costs but also the storage fees for the second year and beyond.
Are medication costs included in the egg freezing fees?
It depends on the facility.
In this article, outpatient fees, examination fees, and medication costs are excluded in principle, but for facilities that only offer package plans that include medication costs, the package prices are listed as they are.
About the listed prices
The prices are manually verified and calculated based on the fees posted on the official websites of each medical institution.
We have verified them as much as possible, but since many facilities have complex fee structures, there is a possibility that calculation errors or misinterpretations of fees may be included.
If you find any errors, it would be helpful if you could let us know via comments, etc., including the
"Name of the medical institution", "the fee you believe is incorrect", and "the official page where the fee details can be confirmed"
.
We will correct them after verification.
Also, since fees are subject to change, please check the latest fees at each medical institution when actually undergoing egg freezing.
