3 Recommended PGT-A Clinics in Tokyo | How to Choose a Hospital and Published Results
Even if you look for clinics in Tokyo that offer PGT-A (Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy), simply knowing they are approved facilities does not tell you about differences in case volume, treatment outcomes, or implementation systems.
Therefore, this article introduces three clinics from the 70 approved PGT-A/SR facilities in Tokyo as of July 2026 that meet the following criteria:
・They publish their own PGT-A treatment results
・They performed 100 or more frozen embryo transfers for patients aged 35 to under 40 in both 2019 and 2020
・The number of frozen embryo transfers and birth rates can be verified
・The history of PGT-A research and implementation systems can be verified
Patient age, case volume, reporting periods, and methods for calculating results vary by facility. Therefore, this is not a ranking based on a simple comparison of PGT-A pregnancy or birth rates.
*The "recommendations" in this article are based on our own selection criteria using publicly available data.
3 Recommended PGT-A Clinics in Tokyo
1. Shinbashi Dream Clinic
Frozen Embryo Transfer Record
(Without PGT-A / Combined 2019 and 2020)
979 frozen embryo transfers, 43.6% birth rate
Published PGT-A Results
As of December 2024, Shinbashi Dream Clinic has published post-treatment outcomes for 270 cases where euploid embryos (Grade A embryos) were transferred.
Average age at egg retrieval: 40.2 ± 3.0 years
Birth or ongoing pregnancy: 67.8%
Miscarriage: 6.7%
In addition, the percentages for chemical pregnancies, ectopic pregnancies, and non-pregnancies are also listed.
A key feature is that you can verify not only the number of cases but also the average age at egg retrieval and post-pregnancy outcomes.
Furthermore, a board-certified clinical geneticist is on staff.
Note that Shinbashi Dream Clinic is not an Advanced Medical Care B facility, and PGT-A is offered as self-pay treatment.
Cost
90,750 yen per embryo
2. Kato Ladies Clinic
Frozen Embryo Transfer Record
(Without PGT-A / Combined 2019 and 2020)
7,061 frozen embryo transfers, 37.1% birth rate
Published PGT-A Results
On their official website, they compare the results of the PGT-A group and the non-PGT-A group for the following two categories, with an average age of 40.6 years:
・Patients with repeated ART failure
・Patients with recurrent miscarriage
In both cases, the results show that the PGT-A group had higher pregnancy and birth rates and lower miscarriage rates than the non-PGT-A group.
However, the number of cases and the reporting period cannot be verified in the published graphs.
Cost
110,000 yen per embryo
Medical Institutions Implementing Advanced Medical Care B
Kato Ladies Clinic is listed by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare as a medical institution implementing Advanced Medical Care B, 'Preimplantation Embryo Aneuploidy Testing 2'.
Advanced Medical Care B is conducted as clinical research to evaluate the efficacy and safety of PGT-A. Even at implementing institutions, not all applicants are eligible; one must meet the research criteria.
3. Akihabara ART Clinic
Frozen Embryo Transfer Results
(Without PGT-A / Combined 2019 and 2020)
266 frozen embryo transfers, 34.2% birth rate
Published PGT-A Results
Akihabara ART Clinic has published its embryo transfer results following PGT-A conducted from 2021 to 2024.
Pregnancy rate per transfer: 76.7%
Birth rate per transfer: 66.7%
90% of transferred embryos were classified as Grade A, with a 77.8% pregnancy rate for Grade A embryos. A notable feature is that they publish not only the pregnancy rate but also the birth rate per transfer. However, the public page does not allow for confirmation of the number of embryo transfers after PGT-A or the average age of patients.
Cost
110,000 yen per embryo
What is PGT-A (Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy)?
PGT-A is a test that involves taking a small sample of cells from a blastocyst obtained through in vitro fertilization to check for any numerical abnormalities in the chromosomes.
By prioritizing the transfer of embryos determined to have no numerical chromosomal abnormalities, improvements in pregnancy and birth rates per transfer, as well as a reduction in miscarriage rates, are expected.
However, testing cannot be performed if the embryo does not develop to the blastocyst stage, and there are cases where no transferable embryos are found even after testing.
Indications for PGT-A
According to the bylaws of the Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology, PGT-A is intended for couples who meet any of the following criteria:
・Repeated in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer without achieving pregnancy
・Repeated miscarriages or stillbirths
・Women aged 35 or older
With the revision of the bylaws in September 2025, women aged 35 or older were added to the eligibility for PGT-A. However, meeting the criteria does not guarantee that one can receive PGT-A. Each clinic determines whether it can be performed based on factors such as treatment history and embryo status.
Frozen Embryo Transfer Results Used for This Selection
To compare treatment results without PGT-A, we used frozen embryo transfer data for women aged 35 to under 40, which was previously published by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Bureau of Social Welfare and Public Health.
・January to December 2020
・January to December 2019
We compared the number of frozen embryo transfers and the live birth rate.
*ART refers to assisted reproductive technology such as in vitro fertilization and intracytoplasmic sperm injection.
*The data presented here are the results of frozen embryo transfers without PGT-A.
*Live birth rate = the percentage of frozen embryo transfers that resulted in a birth.
*These are historical data from 2019 and 2020 and do not represent current treatment outcomes.
Points to check when choosing a hospital or clinic for PGT-A
When looking at PGT-A treatment results, it is important not to compare clinics based solely on high numerical values.
Each facility differs in terms of the age of the target patients, the number of cases, the aggregation period, the criteria for transferred embryos, and the methods for calculating pregnancy and birth rates. Therefore, you cannot judge the superiority of a facility simply by lining up percentages published under different conditions.
When choosing a clinic for PGT-A, you should check the following points:
・Frozen embryo transfer results (without PGT-A) for your age group
・Number of PGT-A cases and the average age of patients
・Pregnancy and birth rates after euploid embryo transfer
・Aggregation period and calculation methods for results
・Embryo culture and embryo biopsy implementation system
・Genetic counseling system
・Total cost from egg retrieval to embryo transfer
・Eligibility criteria for Advanced Medical Care B and costs when receiving it as self-pay treatment
PGT-A is not a treatment that concludes with just the test.
After fertilizing the retrieved eggs and culturing them to the blastocyst stage, trophoblast cells are collected. It is important to check not only the published PGT-A results but also the overall performance and system of the facility, including egg retrieval, embryo culture, embryo biopsy, and frozen embryo transfer.
Frequently asked questions about choosing a hospital or clinic for PGT-A
Is a hospital or a clinic recommended for PGT-A?
When undergoing PGT-A, it is important to check the implementation system and treatment track record for PGT-A rather than choosing based solely on the facility classification of hospital versus clinic.
For PGT-A, the retrieved eggs are fertilized, cultured to the blastocyst stage, and then a portion of the embryo is collected for testing.
Therefore, when choosing a hospital or clinic, you should check not only the PGT-A implementation record but also the treatment system, including egg retrieval, embryo culture, embryo biopsy, and frozen embryo transfer.
What should I compare if I want to undergo PGT-A in Tokyo?
There are many hospitals and clinics in Tokyo that perform PGT-A.
When comparing facilities, it is easier to choose if you check the following points:
・PGT-A implementation record
・Published results such as pregnancy and birth rates after PGT-A
・Treatment record for standard in vitro fertilization and frozen embryo transfer
・Cost of PGT-A
・Whether it is eligible for Advanced Medical Care B
PGT-A results vary depending on patient age, number of cases, aggregation period, etc. It is important not to compare based solely on pregnancy or birth rate figures, but to also check the overall treatment performance and system.
Summary
In this article, we introduced three clinics in Tokyo based on their results without PGT-A, the status of their PGT-A result disclosures, and their research and implementation systems.
The three clinics selected in this article are not ranked based on PGT-A performance figures. This is an independent selection based on publicly available information and performance records when PGT-A is not performed.
When considering PGT-A, please check not only the published results but also the embryo culture and genetic medicine systems, eligibility criteria, and the total cost of treatment.
