[1-Minute Summary] Log of books that are important again: What is required for the next generation of web novels, as seen from Everystar's selection reviews (#CreativeTheory #WebNovels #note #Essay #BookPublication #GenerativeAI #ImageGenerationAI)
Hello. Good evening.
My name is "Ura-byoshi" (Back Cover), and I usually write light novels.
Recently, between being rejected from award competitions and
reading harsher Everystar selection reviews
than ever before,
I have found myself waking up in the middle of the night,
"How should I go about writing stories from here on out?"
I have been struck by that anxiety many times.
In the current web novel scene,
information like "how to earn page views with AI writing" is shared as a matter of course,
and there are more and more situations where creativity itselfis discussed as if it were a topic of "AI technology."
Every time creativity is discussed from that "strategy" perspective,
my heart aches.
In Korean vertical-scrolling manga,
the result of mainstreaming methods that analyze data to design "popular plot developments" is that
no matter which work you read, a handsome man with black hair appears on the eighth page—.
It seems thatthis kind of homogenization of entertainment is happening.
With the evolution of AI,
the era where anyone can easily create "interesting stories without plot holes"
is already right before our eyes.
That is precisely why, with data-driven optimization alone,
reader enthusiasm will eventually cease to be generated.
So,where will the meaning and value of us humans writing stories remain?
To conclude,
what will be required in the coming era
is the "author's unique touch" that AI cannot output.
The template era, where you only needed to polish the superficial interest of a story,
is slowly coming to an end.
Increase your own repertoire,
and dig deep into the fields you are interested in.
I believe that such daily accumulation, which may seem like a detour at first glance,
becomes the "color that only that person can produce" that dwells within the work.
Why did I come to think that way?
Based on Everystar's harsh selection reviews and
stories from the front lines of entertainment told by Naoki Prize-winning authors,
I am digging deep into how we should face creativity,
which is about to change significantly.

Afterword:
Speaking of becoming like 'Kintaro-ame' (uniform/cookie-cutter), I remembered that a long time ago, the school I attended had rules like 'Girls must not tie their hair above their ears,' 'Bangs must not be grown past the eyebrows,' 'If hair touches the shoulders, it must be tied back,' and 'Only black hair ties are allowed.' Because of this, almost all the girls had similar hairstyles. I wondered why such rules existed and looked it up, only to find that the reasons were to prevent accidents during physical education, maintain a student-like cleanliness, and prevent unnecessary competition based on appearance. It actually had meaning after all!! That doesn't erase the resentment of having my fashion restricted, but it did give me a little bit of closure. Knowing the meaning behind things is truly important.
