[Short Short] The Cunning Fall

I really didn't know about that.

A strange melody, like the trumpets of the Apocalypse, rang out across the world. The next moment, massive structures covering the sky began to fall one after another. People ran about in confusion, but they were crushed by things far too large for them to do anything about.

The structures piled up high on top of one another, eliminating any escape routes and narrowing the sky. The world was filled with these structures, and the remaining people gathered and huddled together in the only safe zone left.

"It's the end of the world."

"It's the wrath of God."

"It's an alien invasion."

The voices uttering words of despair suddenly stopped. People looked up at the sky with hollow expressions. From the enclosed square of sky, the shadows of merciless objects fluttered down onto their heads.

"Yes! I've been waiting for this, the long bar!"

"Ugh, what a cunning move!"

The long, thin bar was sucked into the only remaining space.

I didn't know. I didn't know that tiny people lived inside Tetris...

I didn't know. I didn't know that what I thought was a score was actually the death toll of the Tetris people...
