A List of Wonderful Souvenirs I Actually Bought in Miyakojima - 2026 Edition
This note is written for those who are struggling to choose souvenirs for their trip to Miyakojima. I have included only the items I actually bought during my 4-day, 3-night trip over Golden Week.
I especially want those who are tired of affiliate sites claiming things are 'must-buys!' to read this.

The problem of too little information on Miyakojima souvenirs
During my stay, I had a lot of trouble trying to find nice souvenir shops in the city area.
Even when I searched, all that came up were thin summary sites aimed at affiliate marketing. Even if they say 'This is definitely recommended!', it's questionable whether the person who wrote it actually bought it. I had no choice but to pick up things that looked good while moving around locally.
Therefore, I will only write about what I actually bought in this note.
List of souvenirs I actually bought
I will introduce the following 7 items this time.
Icing cookies
Popcorn
Island bananas
Passion fruit
Bracelet and choker
Island shallots (Shima-rakkyo)
Key chain
I will briefly introduce each one.
Items I especially want to recommend
Design Match: Icing cookies in collaboration with Sakurazaka AZUL

Among the souvenirs this time, the icing cookies from here were by far the best.
The appearance is just so cute. They are carefully designed with motifs typical of Miyakojima, stylish, and delicious. They hit the perfect trifecta for a souvenir.

However, they were apparently delicious even for a child, and while I was taking my time thinking, 'Let's eat these slowly,' I ended up finding an empty jar. My child seemed to like them, and before I knew it, they had finished them all.A 3-year-old who has a real eye for delicious things.
I strongly recommend setting aside your own portion separately!
It seems you can also order them online, so even those who can't go to Miyakojima should check them out. They are so delicious that they are worth buying just for that.
Island Shallots (Shima Rakkyo)

This is another thing I'm glad I bought. It's one of those Miyakojima-style ingredients that you can't easily get on the mainland. They are excellent pickled in salt or as tempura, and they make a great snack for drinks. If you see them at a local supermarket or market, I recommend buying them without hesitation.

Nichirei's this recipe was easy and great! I also liked that it didn't require much oil.
Kaikobo
This is where I bought a bracelet that doubles as a choker.
They have a collection of accessories that make the most of Miyakojima's materials and colors, which was great as a travel memento. The design that can be used as both a choker and a bracelet is quite practical. I want to wear it with a T-shirt.

If I had had more room in my budget, I would have bought Larimar! I'm just clutching the loose stone for now...
Popcorn (Caramel Banana & Purple Yam Milk)
I bought these at the shop in the Shigira Mirage shopping area at Shigira Resort. They are popcorn with flavors typical of Miyakojima, and since they are light and easy to carry, they are suitable as souvenirs.
Honestly, they are expensive for popcorn! But as a snack, they are cheap. They are incredibly delicious. I wonder why...?
Other souvenirs
Island bananas have a completely different sweetness and aroma from the ones sold on the mainland, so I really want people who have never compared them to experience it!
However, since ripe ones don't last long, I think it's best to buy them with the assumption that you will finish them on the day you get home or the next day.
The keychain is a cute collaboration item sold at Design Match. I chose the goat one.

There is a lot about souvenir information in Miyakojima that you won't know unless you actually go there and move around. Even if you try to research in advance, it is difficult to find information based on real experience.
I hope this note will be of some help to those who are going to Miyakojima in choosing souvenirs.
