What will JACK see when he jumps out of the box?
Hobi's behind-the-scenes creative stories are nothing but treasures.
Throughout the entire personal interview with Rolling Stone magazine, it was interesting to hear BTS's dance leader, Hobi, talk about his 'change in attitude as a creator'!!
Since it's long, to summarize, the main point of the story was this.
During the period when I wanted to break the frames that bound me, I used the metaphor of 'Jack In The Box,' but now that I've taken on more challenges, I feel like I've already stepped outside the 'Box'.
When the last remaining hope comes out of Pandora's box, what will it face?

Now, I am interested in facing many emotions in life (including negative ones) head-on.
As I get older, I feel that my concept of love has also changed.
Rather than goals, the 'process itself' of the seven of us gathering to make music is fun.
Rolling Stone magazine personal interview (excerpt)
Interviewer:
You often used the metaphor of a box. Do you still feel like you are inside some kind of box? If so, what kind of box is it now?
j-hope:
Back then, I felt like I was trapped in a certain mold that prevented me from expressing myself as freely as I wanted.
I was desperate to break that mold and step out into the world with my true self and all the music I wanted to share. That's why I often used the 'Jack In The Box' metaphor.
I think it was the perfect metaphor for that time. But now... having made more of my own music, taken on more challenges, and felt more things overall, I can no longer say that I am inside a box.
Now I am thinking, 'What can I create now that I am out of the box?'
However, actually, the origin story of our music comes from 'Pandora's Box.' In that story, when she opens the box, all the evils are unleashed, but when she closes the box, hope still remains inside.
So, when hope comes out of the box, what must it face?
When I think about it, there must be a lot of evil and other entities that I, as I am now, should find and incorporate into my music.
There are really so many emotions in life, aren't there?
When facing those emotions—whether it's joy or love, or something more negative—lately, I am more interested in facing those emotions head-on and expressing them through music.
The person who weaves the story of 'j-hope'
To me, Hobi is someone who, while maintaining an attitude of trying to focus on the positive through his songs, has gradually begun to talk about diverse facets of himself, and he is also the culprit (lol) who shook up ARMY by bringing romance into the theme of showing a 'new self' as a solo artist.
Man, the concept of the bare-chested necklace in 'Sweet Dreams' was shocking lol
Watching how Hobi makes his albums and handles his songs, I feel he is a bit different from Namjoon or Yoongi.
His style of telling his own story over time while reflecting his life is similar to Western artists, and it feels like he draws a long picture scroll called 'j-hope' by digesting the songs he has made once many times within himself, nurturing them carefully, and adding stories (meanings) to the songs themselves.
Perhaps the culmination of that is HOS, and the stump and roots in the final 'Safety Zone'.
Fireworks launching like everything that jumped out of Pandora's box.
I felt like I saw the moment when the journey of J-HOPE, who kept asking 'What’s my safe zone?', reached an end in Goyang. It was a beautiful ending.
I am excited by the premonition that he, having completed one story he had built up through his solo tour, is about to start talking about something with a wider perspective and more freedom.
Because the Pandora analogy lives on, I also know that the past stories will not disappear but will shine as his foundation and be revived as part of a larger story. The next page is already open.
I am incredibly curious about what the mature Hobi is trying to talk about, and I can't wait to see what kind of music it will be and how it will come out!
My expectations for the future have increased by one more. Seriously, this individual interview is divine (*´艸｀)
