"Experience the extraordinary and daily realizations from a 'unique' perspective"—is that a trap? | #CreativeAwards | #EssayCategory
A unique perspective is something that is already present the moment you and others exist and you speak in your own words (with all their fluctuations, mistakes, biases, assumptions, moods, and sensations). The moment someone other than yourself sees it and feels "empathy," senses "singularity," or harbors "aversion," that movement of emotion creates a genuine uniqueness.
But you know?
That is something everyone possesses as a matter of course. Consequently, there is honestly not much meaning in a "unique perspective" itself. Just as most things in the world have no essential meaning.
How do we swallow the fact that "there is no meaning"?
We usually close our eyes to that "lack of meaning" and live by believing in the "meaning everyone thinks of" that someone else has decided. However, even though we are made of almost the same genes, there are individual "fluctuations." That is why we inevitably encounter moments where we cannot find that "meaning everyone thinks of" and cannot "swallow" it.
Even so, there are times when we "have to do it (have to get through it)." At those times, do we just swallow it somehow? Or do we swallow it by "giving it our own meaning"?
I think that when you swallow something by giving it your own meaning, that is the first time that person's own "unique way of overcoming or perceiving" is born.
A unique perspective is always present in both the ordinary and the extraordinary. In truth, everyone has it.
Then, what does it mean to "speak from a unique perspective"?
It might mean thinking about how you assigned meaning to something in order to move past it, even after you have realized its lack of meaning, and struggling to put that into words.
The intersection of the abstract and the concrete, and the unique "choice"
Words squeezed out in that way eventually form an image and connect in a way that "reaches" someone.
What does it mean to "connect"?
It cannot be achieved with just the abstract or just the concrete.
I feel that many of the essays in the essay category that reach people are those that beautifully intersect the abstract and the concrete. You grasp the abstract, make it imaginable as something concrete, and finally pull back to layer the abstract once more. Or you do the reverse. This is a very difficult technique.
In particular, this "act of choosing" the concrete is not just a matter of habit, but I believe it comes from one's sense and biases.
This is where "uniqueness" resides.
If you cannot choose, can you reach people? I don't know. Just having a unique perspective isn't enough. Because it is the unique "choice" that gives words their unique shape.
The miracle and time of ‘reaching’ someone
Noticing a unique perspective and giving it form without looking away from the sense of discomfort. Even if you can do that much, what does it actually mean for it to be ‘chosen,’ or to ‘reach’ someone?
The concept of ‘time’ is necessary here.
Reaching the person who needs it right now, at the right moment. This is surprisingly difficult.
It feels similar to the question of whether there are extraterrestrial beings other than us in this vast universe. From the scale of the infinitely expanding universe, the time during which life exists is like being on one's ‘deathbed’ as soon as one is born. If we can exist and meet within that single instant, it is a miracle beyond doubt.
For the ‘something you want to convey now’ that you wrote to meet someone’s ‘something they are seeking now’ as the same ‘now.’ Even if we don't call it a cosmic miracle, I think it is a very difficult thing.
Words are ‘things to be passed on’
To you, who are taking on the Creative Awards. Thank you for choosing the words you want to convey and placing them here. Because there is meaning in the fact that the things you challenged yourself with will ‘remain.’
I recall the words in the manga ‘Land’.
I thought while erasing the characters...
‘Characters’ are not things to end with just me alone.
‘Characters’ are ‘things to be passed on’.
I think I was waiting for that opportunity.
It’s not just about conveying ‘thoughts’ ———
People forget.
People die.
I think characters were born
to keep the ‘thoughts you want to convey’ from being cut off.
The moment life fades...
It’s like a cicada that has finished its role of connecting life,
it’s not that scary.
Just as life connects, we connect characters.
Moreover, from now on, there is AI.
An existence that searches, extracts, and delivers from vast amounts of information. In the process of being extracted within the AI, perhaps the original thought might become a little diluted. But I am sure it will intertwine with the thoughts of others who left something behind in the same way, be spun together, and reach someone in the future.
Therefore, there is no need to worry about the trap of words like ‘what is a unique perspective’ before you even write.
Whether it is a casual daily realization or an extraordinary experience, your ‘unique |form<concrete>’ that you chose by struggling with the ‘|meaning<ordinary>’ flowing through the world, and yet incorporating your own ‘|meaning<resolution>’, will remain as characters just as they are.
It doesn’t matter if it isn’t chosen right away, or if it doesn’t reach someone at the right timing. Because that unique fluctuation you left behind will surely reach someone, intersecting like a miracle with their ‘now’ someday.
...That is what I felt, quite presumptuously, when faced with the countless essay articles submitted to the "#CreativeAwards" in the past lol
Still, the Creative Awards, in other words, are where creators' "all-out realizations" are left for free...isn't that────
Truly a blessing! (°∀°;)
note really does things that are both cruel and stylish, don't they lol
Well, thank you for joining me again today.
I hope this question has served as a gateway to a new "question" for you.

Sugawa-san's summary article on applying for the Creative Awards! It was super easy to understand~😳 I had been thinking, "I'm curious, but I guess I'll just do it casually," but it inspired me to try writing it properly. I'm not sure if it's in the right application format though lol
