[3rd Year of Daily Updates] The Stock x Impulse Law for Writing Notes Effortlessly
Celebrate! 3rd year of almost daily updates
Happy New Year.
2026. Before I knew it, I'm living in the future I imagined as a child. I'm talking to computers, cars are driving themselves, and I can shop with a simple beep without using actual money.
It's the future now.
This is my 3rd year of updating my note daily.
It's been quietly continuing.
I never get tired of it. No matter how much I write, it's still fun.
I want to keep scribbling away in 2026 too.
A story about the secret to keeping on writing.
It's a bit modest every time, but I've found two things, so I'll share them.
The magic of taking notes "ASAP"
First, create a topic notebook.
This is a classic among classics.
But without this topic notebook, it's hard to keep writing.
It's precisely because I verbalize what I want to write about on a regular basis that I can clarify what I want to write.
If you don't stock up on topic notes, it's hard to write when you feel like writing something.
The habit of taking notes changes your life.
Noters across the country should read this.
When I say notes, I mean the memo app on my smartphone that I always have with me.
Whenever something I want to write about pops into my head, I jot it down as soon as possible.
If for some reason I can't take a note immediately, like when my phone is charging, I'll write it down on anything. The drawing board I bought at Daiso is also a big help.
If you don't have a notepad, remember it with an image
When I'm out for a short walk and don't have my phone or a notepad with me, I rely on memory techniques.
In my case, I quite like remembering things through images.
For a tip on keeping up with notes, I imagine myself clacking away at a keyboard. I even imagine making a typo, like hitting the wrong key for a dash, which helps burn it into my memory.
Furthermore, if I think about writing about a Hokkaido snack called Yukitsuru, I imagine myself eating the snack while typing. Since Yukitsuru is a type of bouchee, it crumbles quite a bit. I imagine worrying about crumbs falling into the gaps of my keyboard. This helps me remember it.
And if I decide to write about coffee too, then I imagine having the Yukitsuru on a saucer while typing, along with the coffee.
In this way, I add to the image, burning it intensely into my mind until I can enter it into my notepad.
A prescription for when you can't write even though you've taken notes
From the time I wake up until I go to bed, I'm usually thinking about topics, so by taking notes every day, I accumulate quite a lot of material.
However, no matter how many notes I write, it's actually quite hard to get down to writing.
Even if I try to force myself to write when I don't really feel like it, the words just don't flow.
I end up wasting precious time mindlessly scrolling through social media.
I think the most important point right before you start writing is to know what you want to write about at this very moment.
I don't really know why, but right now I have an irresistible urge to write about the tips for keeping on writing.
When I'm in the mood, I just write it all out in one go.
I wonder if this is the fastest way to write.
It's important to collect ideas you want to write about on a regular basis, but if your feelings have cooled down by the time you actually sit down to write, even topics that were hot when you took notes won't come out well. It takes way too much time.
If that's the case, when it's time to write your note, it's better to output whatever theme you want to write about right now, even if it's not something you've noted down in your idea notebook. Writing out what you want to write feels refreshing and good.
Writing effortlessly and continuing easily by multiplying stock and impulse
So, as a small tip for continuing to write notes every day, it's important to take notes and stock up on things that moved your heart in your daily life, and to put into words the content you want to write.
But not only that, if you write what you most want to write at the moment you are writing, you can write at explosive speed, and above all, it's exhilarating.
The formula for continuing to write that I realized after writing notes every day is,
"Stock (Logic)" x "Impulse (Emotion)" = Write effortlessly and continue easily
I think that's it.
Also, interestingly, once you finish writing one thing, the desire to write more, like "I want to write about that too" or "I want to write about this too," starts to well up.
This is the pleasure of being able to write more the more you write.
I look forward to your continued support in 2026.
