Description
A girl who photographs everyday scenery with the Polaroid camera she carries in the Coastal Tourism Region of the Great Japalonia Empire.
She has an innocent and kind-hearted personality, treating everyone equally.
Emu has been spiritually sensitive since birth and can see the souls of the deceased (mainly those dwelling in objects).
She cannot hear their voices, but she is skilled at lip-reading, so she can understand what they want to say.
When taking photos, she mutters to herself happily as if she has found something.
However, one gets the impression that what she is truly searching for is something else.
“...Where on earth could it be... Mother’s...”
What she is searching for is the lingering regret her mother spoke of just before she passed away.
A precious 'item' that was lost.
However, her mother passed away before Emu could hear the details of the item.
Therefore, she aims to find it by relying on her own abilities and offer it at her mother’s grave.
Emu's Ability
Emu Tsurumi.
She has the ability to convey the thoughts that the deceased have left behind in objects.
However, some of those thoughts were left behind in words that were not so beautiful.
That is why she changed the words out of 'goodwill'.
Within a range that would not change the meaning,
so that the listener would not be saddened,
and so that the listener could properly accept them.
But was that 'truly the right' thing to do?
That question certainly shook the very foundation of her existence.
By the time she realized that the actions she thought were 'goodwill' were actually 'self-righteousness,' it was already too late to turn back.

Imperial Prototype Instant Shadow Camera SP-01
A prototype instant developing camera initially developed for the purpose of showing off the military technological prowess of the Great Japalonia Empire.
It was developed at the Imperial Capital Optical Workshop, where Emu's father worked, at the request of the Imperial Army Optical Weaponry Testing Bureau.
It was intended to instantly record and share reconnaissance results and artillery impact points on the battlefield, and it featured an innovative mechanism that allowed photos to be developed on the spot after being taken.
However, many technical issues such as the production cost of the special photosensitive paper and developing chemicals, the shelf life of the chemicals, and the maintainability due to the complex internal mechanism could not be resolved, and the mass production plan was canceled.
Currently, only a few prototype units are known to exist.
One of them was kept by Emu's father, who was one of the lead developers, and after his death, it was passed down to Emu.
For Emu, this camera is a memento of her father and, at the same time, the very proof that he lived.
Furthermore, there is no mention of the phenomenon of this camera capturing spirits in the design records, and the cause remains unknown to this day.
