When I first saw this binding, I was incredibly surprised.
Because I thought it was exactly the scenery I see from the shop.
The sea spreading out before us, the coffee trees, the coffee.
And the people depicted on the table, each spending their own time.
I thought it looked just like our shop.
The customers who come to our shop also drink coffee slowly while looking at the scenery from here... and they talk about various things with my husband.
My husband also likes talking to people, so this place is also a space where various stories and diverse lives are told.
It really is like this, with so many moments of life present there on the table.
Yes, it is certainly 'present.' But things that are invisible, yet spoken of, were expressed in a visible form through this binding. That's how it felt. Ah, putting it into words is difficult. lol
I didn't know at all what kind of binding it would be, so when I first saw it, I was surprised and told the back-alley designer Motto-san, 'It's truly wonderful...!!' to express my gratitude.
They replied, 'I thought about it so that it would fit in when placed at TABBY's.'
Just looking at the binding, it's clear how much thought and care went into it. Reading this article by mika-san, I am deeply moved by how much time and passion they poured into it. Thank you so much😭
