♠︎22 The Order of the Line and Children's Feelings
On a hot afternoon
four-year-olds who returned from playing outside are lining up for barley tea
"I'm first today!"
Right next to A-kun, who was laughing as he said that,
the moment B-chan called out, "Hey, hey~"
C-kun quickly cut to the front
"But I was first!"
"I want to drink it quickly too!"
Before anyone knew it, the two were grabbing at each other
The teacher stepped in between them
and began listening to them in a quiet place
Then B-chan
came over looking a bit anxious
"Teacher, you know..."
"I was the one who called out to him"
The homeroom teacher, seeing this,
decided that B-chan was not at fault,
and instead of separating her,
had them talk it out together
The homeroom teacher said,
"What should we have done?"
"I'd like to make this a time for everyone to think about it"
She spoke to the children in the class
Once the two children calmed down,
"I am happy as a teacher to see you learning about each other's feelings through these troubles"
She told everyone in the class
A new childcare worker who was watching this said,
"I thought I should tell everyone 'don't get close in times like this,' but to turn it into a space where everyone thinks about it..."
A small fight that started in the barley tea line
But even that timebecomes an important experience for learning how to interact with others
The thoughts behind this post
I would be happy if you took a look. ↓
