The Power of Words: A Nighttime Song Delivered a 'Thank You for Today'
At night, I dim the lights in my room
just a little bit.
At the end of the day,
playing my favorite song
is my
little ritual.
As I drink warm tea
and listen to the music quietly,
the hectic day
gradually fades away.

And then,
every night, I say
three phrases out loud.
'Thank you.'
'A wonderful day.'
'You did your best, me.'
At first, I felt a bit embarrassed,
so I would make sure no one was around
before saying them.
But,
As I continued,
just by listening to music at night,
these words naturally began to
spill from my lips.
I used to,
before going to sleep,
"I didn't finish that."
"I could have done more."
I would only think
about things like that.
But that time
was not time for tomorrow,
but time to finish
today.
So now,
rather than what I couldn't do,
to this day called today,
I am saying thank you.
🌸 Waking up in the morning.
🌸 Being able to eat a delicious meal.
🌸 Being able to laugh with someone.
🌸 Being able to spend today without anything happening.
It may seem like a given,
but it was a day that was not a given.
So, 'Thank you.'
And, 'A wonderful day.'
Even if,
there were things that
did not go as planned,
this day called today,
will never return.
So I,
accept that day in its entirety,
'You did your best, me.'
I say to myself.

The one who is
listening to those words
closest is myself.
That is precisely why, with kind words,
I want to let the day end.
For me, a song at night is
This is not music for sleeping.
To myself today,
a precious time to deliver
a 'thank you.'
If,
before you sleep, you feel
that your heart was a little too busy today,
why not play your favorite song
and gift yourself
these words?

'Thank you.'
'A wonderful day.'
'You did your best, me.'
I believe those words
will gently
connect
to the you of tomorrow.
