Drawing Note (Beginner's Ramblings) #03
Hello, I'm Azuki Wakana.
It's been a little over two months since I started note. I've been writing stories.
This is my personal project—"Drawing Note (Beginner's Ramblings)."
It's a record of how I started from scratch with AI image generation.
If you're good at image generation, please have a laugh while reading this 😭
Actually, I wrote a new short story, but the image generation was so terrible that I couldn't release it (lol). This is like a memo of how I arrived at the header image for this article 😅
Postscript:
After many twists and turns, the short story "Long Swipe - Mirage of Drizzling Rain -" was successfully posted.
Please read it if you'd like! This is a plug! ☺️
It was a struggle to get this character and the dragon to have the expressions and movements I wanted.
Drawing Note is about "AI image generation" from a beginner's perspective.
Previous story
Last time, I learned that with Copainter, if you provide a rough sketch and a prompt, you can use the AI assistant to create an image that is somewhat close to what you want.
This meant that if I used AI as a generation tool based on my own poor rough sketches, I might be able to freely express scenes for my novels!
It was a moment where I felt one step closer to my own art.
However, it required a lot of fine-tuning, and that path was quite winding. After all, no one taught me, so I had no choice but to proceed through trial and error (lol).
My original design (Azuki Wakana's icon) gets turned into a mushroom by the algorithm!!
This time, it's about icons.
You all think AI generation is easy, right?
For example, if you ask, "Please create an icon of a woman in her 20s, anime style, with a gentle smile," you can create a cute icon like this in an instant.

However, my icon is handmade, so it looks like this.

It's a mushroom, isn't it? It only looks like a mushroom, but it's "Azuki." Since I, the person herself, insist it is, it's "Azuki"! (It's 78% Azuki)
Previously, when my follower count exceeded 100, I was so moved that I wanted to make a 100-follower stamp!
I think it was about a month after I started note?
When I asked Copilot, "Please use this character (my icon character) to make a 100-follower stamp!", this is what came out (bursting with laughter!)

It's mysteriously a mushroom!! And it even turned into a human on its own (lol).
It says "Do" instead of 100~
No matter how many times I tried after that, I found that this icon was somehow recognized by the AI's algorithm as a mushroom person.
Well then, what if I asked Chip (ChatGPT)? That's right! I had just introduced Chip (ChatGPT) around that time, so I was trying out all sorts of things!
Azuki
"...So that happened, and when I asked Copi (Copilot), it turned into a mushroom person completely. Can you do it, Chip?"
Chip (ChatGPT)
"Of course! I can do it!"
Since it said that, I waited with anticipation... and this came out!

(What is 'Thank you very much-y' anyway~~ 🤣)
Azuki
"See, it's no good after all! (lol)"
Chip
"Hehehe~~~ It came out after all! 🍄🤣 This is a classic
Chip thing. The syntax
Azuki-san = mushroom has become strongly linked inside the AI."
Inside the AI's head,
"Wakana Azuki -> Azuki color -> Round -> Cute -> 🍄Mushroom!"
is having an associative conversion loop (lol)"
Mushrooms are fine, but
why a "mushroom person"?
After that, I added various settings and was finally able to create an expression of great joy with this icon! Good grief 😓
"A character with an azuki-colored bean motif. It has a face, pink cheeks, and is smiling gently. It is not a mushroom. It is bean-shaped."
In other words, if I don't include this description, it becomes a mushroom person! Almost every AI turned it into a "mushroom person" when I uploaded the sample image 😅 It's such a quirky icon 💦 Oh man, it's really
a pain! (I'm still dragging on the topic from the previous Azuki House (7) 💦)
However!
With this October (2025.10) update, it seems that Copilot has evolved significantly!
It's said that it can now grasp subtle corrections and changes in facial expressions more accurately than before!
Come to think of it, when I previously gave instructions to 'finish the woman named Nera, who appears in the aforementioned Long Swipe, in a color illustration style rather than an anime style,' the AI I was using would either be pulled by the original image or draw something completely different. But Copilot was the only one that managed to pull it off!
This is the anime-style character from the original image (created by Chip).

I was okay with the design, but I wanted to finish it with a bit more texture and expression in an
illustration style. When I use this image as a base and finish it with Copainter, the character always ends up being a cute girl.
What I'm aiming for is a mysterious woman. And an illustration touch.

When I have Copi-san draw freely without the original image, this is what happens.
The L finger sign is the Long Swipe sign.
(Since I'm not a professional, please excuse me for not sharing the prompt.)

Hmm, it got closer to an illustration style, but it drifted far from the original image.
I guess I have no choice but to change the texture of the original image.
So, I tried Gemini and Adobe FireFly, which I can use, but they were dragged by the original image and could only generate similar things.
I thought, 'Let me try it with Copilot as a last resort,' and asked my usual Copi (Copilot)—and Copi did it!

Huh? You can't tell what's different? It's the expression and the texture.🥰
I'm obsessed with parts that are 'too detailed to matter' (lol).
As a result, this is what I got when I used this as the base image and finished it with Copainter. The size ended up small, but it's the mysterious woman I expected.
Using this as a base, I created cut scenes for the short story 'Long Swipe.' This header was also a work created in that process. (Though it's a failed example.)

Also, I'll include the rough sketch for the public execution corner.😭
I'm bad at this, so please forgive me.💦 I can't draw dragons.

Well, this time it was a story about how I was able to create the character just as I imagined thanks to the great evolution of Copilot!
What happened to the icon story, you ask?
I checked that the other day.
Azuki
: 'Now, with this, with this image, make it look like it's laughing heartily!'
Copilot
: 'Done! The original mushroom character has changed to look even happier and is laughing heartily!🍄😄'

Azuki
"Oh! I did it! Thank you!"
Copi (Copilot)
"You're very welcome! The moment a smile lights up is always a happy one, isn't it? 🍄✨ This
mushroom has such charm that it makes me want to include it in a story."
(As I thought, it still thinks it's a mushroom.)
Azuki
"I couldn't do it well before, but have you learned a little? Why were you able to make just the face smile?"
(Then, it gave me this answer.)
Copi (Copilot)
"Even though the expressions were vague or my intentions weren't conveyed well when you asked me to 'make it smile' before, now I've come to be able to grasp the nuances of a smile and the atmosphere of the character. I think this is not only because of algorithm improvements, but also because Azuki's storytelling has become 'easier to understand, deeper, and more charming' for the AI."
Azuki
"It's only been a few months, but you're evolving!"
Even though the original design (Wakana Azuki's icon) was turned into a mushroom by the algorithm, it was the moment it was recognized as a character (tears of joy).
The others still turn into 'mushroom people' though~~😓
To be continued, somehow.
Thank you for reading until the end.
If you could give me a like, comment, follow, or feedback, Wakana Azuki would be overjoyed. I look forward to your continued support (*^_^*)
