[Engawa Teahouse] Dentist Series | When the Dentist's Chair is Reclined, the World Ends

The moment the chair is reclined, the world rapidly loses its color.
And then, only my sense of hearing becomes sharpened.

The clinking, clinking sounds of preparation.
The high-pitched whine of the equipment being tested.

The finishing touch is the sound of teeth being drilled,
a sound like a construction site, grinding away.

"Please rinse your mouth."

Just when I think it's over, it's not.
The chair is reclined again.

Ah, will this cycle never end?

As I am overcome with despair, I hear a voice that brings light.

"Yes, that's it for today."

The chair is brought back up.
The world regains its color.

My hearing has already returned to normal.

I have returned safely.
A festival in my heart has grandly begun.

……Wishing for that to happen, I count down the days to my dentist appointment.
