A night where five people from different professions discussed the future of work. My experience participating in a co-medical roundtable 🌿
The other night, I participated in a roundtable discussion.
It was a gathering where five co-medical professionals working in medical, nursing, and rehabilitation fields came together to talk about the future of work.
It was hosted by Nariko-san, who I am grateful to know through note.
To be honest, I am not very good at speaking in settings like this.
Even so, it was a night I can truly say I am glad I participated in.
Today, I want to write down what kind of time that roundtable was and what kind of people were gathered there.
🖥️ Anyone can participate for free, even if you are not a member
First, about this roundtable.
Although it is part of Nariko-san's membership, anyone can participate for free, even if they are not a member.
This is something I want to emphasize strongly from the start.
This time was the third session.
What is interesting is that the number of participants is increasing with each session.
And it is not a place where just one person talks endlessly.
Everyone has their own core beliefs firmly in place.
Therefore, opinions do not clash, but rather overlap quietly.
It was a very good discussion.
Nariko-san's facilitation is also exquisite.
There is laughter within the gentle flow of conversation.
She skillfully brings up topics even for someone like me who is not good at speaking.
You also basically do not have to show your face.
That is why it is easy to participate.
For someone like me, this was truly appreciated.
💡 The new way of living called "Medical Talent"
So, what did we actually talk about?
The thing that left the biggest impression on me this time was the concept of "Medical Talent" proposed by Nori-san.
It seems to be a coined term.
I heard it for the first time, too.
It is the idea of positioning the human values and communication skills that medical and nursing professionals other than doctors have cultivated in the field as "talents" (strengths).
In an era where AI is spreading and the value of knowledge alone is declining.
That is precisely why we should shine a light on our humanity and how we interact with patients.
When I heard this, I felt a strong sense of empathy.
In fact, it had something in common with the membership I am about to start.
If I had known I was going to participate, I would have liked to prepare beforehand.
They were someone with such a good perspective that I felt that way.
Besides that, topics that are urgent precisely because we are in the field, such as the salary ceiling for co-medical staff and the background behind why many in the medical industry prohibit side jobs, came up one after another.
These were all perspectives I could hardly have reached on my own.
I thought, does the scenery change this much when people from different professions gather?
🧑🤝🧑 About the five people who gathered
From here on, I would like to introduce the colleagues I talked with, little by little.
Each of them is a person who carries a completely different story in a completely different place.
🌸 Nariko-san
The organizer, Nariko-san.
I am always truly indebted to her.
She is gentle and has a way of softening the atmosphere of any space.
Even for someone like me who isn't good at speaking, she brings up topics at the perfect moment.
The fact that this roundtable has become such a comfortable space is undoubtedly thanks to Nariko-san's personality.
🎤 Nori-san (My Who)
Nori-san, who spoke to us about medical talent this time.
The moment he appeared on screen, he was so handsome that I thought to myself, 'Who is that?'
But halfway through, I realized he was someone who had followed me a little while ago, and I thought to myself, 'Oh, it's him!'
We haven't talked much yet, so he is someone I would like to talk with more in the future.
Nori-san is currently working with his colleagues to create 'My Who,' a voice message service where experts with medical perspectives gently support your daily life.
It seems they are looking for both people with medical and nursing qualifications, as well as those who just want to try using it.
You can apply your on-site experience directly to the design of the service itself.
Opportunities like that are rare.
If you are interested, please take a look.
🌾 Sugimomo-san
Sugimomo-san participates every time.
He is a nursing supervisor and has a solid philosophy on caregiving.
Even so, he is always composed.
He also has a side to him that loves growing crops, and I felt that he is someone who truly has his own core.
📗 KP Horse-san
And then, there is KP Horse-san.
He is a nurse and a father of two.
He has been working with Nariko-san since she first launched her membership.
I have also been following him since around that time.
KP Horse-san is someone who posts every single day, and since he has been on Note longer than I have, I respect him a lot.
KP Horse-san says he is preparing to open an administrative scrivener office in September.
He is a person who is about to step out from the medical and nursing care field into a new place.
I am looking forward to seeing that step up close from now on.
I was so happy to be able to talk with him at the roundtable this time.
🌿 Roundtable report article
Nariko-san has summarized how the day went.
I would like you to read this as well.
🧭 The place I want to head toward from here
Being involved with companions like this makes me think about things anew.
For me, this time spent connecting with people is simply enjoyable in itself.
In Adlerian psychology, the primary source of human happiness is considered to be community feeling—the realization that you are connected to someone and are useful to someone.
Unlike when I used to write alone in a dark room, now I have companions I can talk with like this.
That realization is what drives me.
Of course, I do hope that from here on, I can connect with even more people, that those relationships will turn into trust, and that one day it will also lead to income.
However, I don't want to get the order wrong.
Connection comes first.
Trust comes next.
I believe that numbers are something that quietly follow at the very end.
🙌 I would be happy to talk with you at the 4th session.
Lastly, an announcement.
This roundtable will be holding its 4th session next.
As I have written many times, even if you are not a member, anyone can participate for free.
I really hope that you, who are reading this article, will participate next time.
People working in medical, nursing, and rehabilitation fields are welcome, of course, and those who are not are surely welcome too.
It is perfectly fine if you just want to listen.
You don't need to show your face either.
Just by nodding, the atmosphere becomes a little richer.
At the next session, I would like to gather the courage to ask you a question as well.
If we connect across professions, we might be able to turn the industry barriers that cannot be changed alone into new options.
The other night, I became convinced of that.
Why don't you join that circle as well?
