[AI Challenge from Age 64 | Chapter 2-5] What I Did to 'Become Able to Write' — The '7 Steps' That Changed My Hesitant Self —
Have you ever felt like this?
"I have the desire to write, but I can't."
Sitting in front of the computer,
"Well, what should I write..."
From there, I wouldn't make any progress at all.
・I don't know what to write.
・Even if I start writing, I can't keep it up.
・Before I know it, only time has passed.
And in the end,
"Let's call it a day."
This was the old me.
I tried blogging many times,
・Can't write.
・Can't continue.
・Quit.
It was this cycle.
But now,
I am continuing to write on note like this.
" Surprisingly, I am able to write."
So then,
what changed from before?
It is,
not "talent."
"Special study"
either.
What changed is just one thing.
・Understanding the "order."
I thought, what is that?
Today,
I would like to talk about the "order"that I have actually followed.
In other words,
I want to talk about the "flow" of that "order"step by step.
Well then, let's start
from here...
Step 1: Get to know AI.
At first,
it was just a really light interest.
"AI seems amazing."
Seeing it on YouTube or note, I thought,
"Huh, it can do things like that."
That was about it.
Even then, I felt it was
a world unrelated to me.
That was my impression.
Step 2: Just try touching it.
But, I was a little curious,
so I tried
"touching" it just once.
I was afraid.
・"Will I be okay?"
・"It looks difficult..."
But,
・"I tried it."
・"I tried touching it."
This was my first step.
It was a small step, though.
It took a fair amount of courage.
To be honest,
perhaps my curiosity
won out.
Step 3: It doesn't go well.
But,
I immediately hit a wall.
・I don't get the answers I expected.
・I don't know what to ask.
I suddenly thought,
"Can I actually use this...?"
That's what I thought.
However,
if I had quit here,
I wouldn't be where I am today.
Step 4: Change how you listen.
While doing that,
at one point, I realized something.
Yes, while watching note and YouTube,
I realized it.
This is a problem with my own
“way of listening.”
It's that.
When I “tell the AI specifically,” the
“answer” changes.
I felt it firsthand.
This was the
first breakthrough.
Step 5: Use templates (prompts)
This is what I did next.
“Imitate” the methods of people who succeed.
Yes. “It's okay to imitate at first.”
I'm digressing a little, but
I'd like to share an episode
about how I realized this.
I'm a bit of a lazy person, so
I'm always the type who
“ends up skipping the proper steps”
and fails.
Even though I know from experience that “not listening to others only leads to losses,” there is still a part of me that doesn't listen.
This time, I took a similar detour for a bit.
However, I also
made improvements based on the lessons I learned from recalling my past experiences.
I seem to have gotten a little wiser.
I honestly referred to the articles by my seniors,
and I decided to study, even if just a little.
I tried entering various
prompts (instruction sentences)
that my seniors introduced.
When I did that, the answers
coming back from the AI were indeed different.
I had an epiphany.
Pretending to know, I told myself,
'You don't need to do anything extra.'
Yes,
at first,'imitation'is
fine.
After all,
that is the fastest way to get results.
Once I realized this,
my feelings suddenly became
much lighter.
Step 6: Becoming able to write.
While doing this,
gradually, the AI starts returning
something close to the'answer'I expected
to my questions.
With time,
you gradually get used to it.
It starts to become fun.
Gradually,
you start to feel
the realization that you are
using AI yourself.
While doing this,
a change gradually begins to occur.
When you ask AI about writing text
that you wanted to write but struggled with
until now...
・The theme is decided
・The structure is created
・You can start writing
In other words, in front of the AI,
I stopped getting stuck.
Yes, I am moving forward.
Before long,
you will be able to
feel the enjoyment.
You are becoming able to do
what you wanted to do.
You get more ambitious,
and you start to feel like
moving on to the next step.
You start to want to
continue even more.
More than ever before,
it makes you feel
that positive.
It starts to become more fun.
This is the biggest change.
Step 7: Becoming able to continue.
The final point is here.
"Able to write" → "Able to continue"
In other words,
・If you can write, it's fun.
・If it's fun, you continue.
Once you reach this point,
it naturally becomes a habit.
● Summary (This is the most important part.)
Yes, the flow I just introduced
can be summarized in this order.
① Know
② Touch
③ Stumble
④ Change how you ask
⑤ Use templates
⑥ Become able to write
⑦ Become able to continue
Conversely,
if you proceed in this order, anyone can progress in the same way.
You will become able to continue.
If you learn to use AI well,
I believe it will become a good partner for you.
● Finally
If you are currently thinking,
"I wonder if I can do it too..."
If you are thinking that,
it's okay.
I also
started from
exactly the same place.
I didn't do anything special.
I justfollowed the "order."
That is why,
I am sure
you can do it too.
Are you starting to feel like trying it out?
Now,
please take a small step forward.
Especially if
you are interested in posting on note and
are struggling with creating articles just like I was,
I hope this article will be helpful to you.
If posting articles on note becomes easier,
writing will become fun.
Then, you will be able to post more articles,
and I believe you will make many friends who will read them.
I am sure your perspective will broaden even more than it is now.
Don't you think that sounds fun?
If you feel you haven't become partners with AI yet,
please give it a try.
● I have a request
If you don't mind,
please let me know in the comments which step you are currently on.
Even if you say, "I'm still at step 1," you are very welcome.
If there is someone who is in the same place as you,
it will surely be helpful.
Together with you,
I would like to enjoy taking the next step forward.
Thank you for your support.
Seniors, aim high with AI.
Thank you so much for reading until the end.
The fact that you read this,
and that you give me likes and comments,
is a great encouragement to me right now.
If you could empathize with this article even a little,
I would be happy if you could support me with a like, comment, or follow.
In this [AI Challenge from Age 64] series,
I am writing about the process of me, at 64, gradually learning how to use AI while being confused by it, and exploring the possibilities of the second half of my life.
If you'd like, please read my previous article as well.
Next time,
I will continue to explore the possibilities of the second half of my life together with AI (ChatGPT).
