「Otapedia」Ota Ward's Local Wiki Launches! #40

Otapedia is here!

A local encyclopedia shining a light on Ota Ward’s hidden gems.

I’ve previously introduced a few of Ota Ward’s “unsung heroes.”
Then yesterday, while lying down, a fun idea popped into my head:

"What if there was a Wikipedia, just for Ota?"
That’s when it hit me: Ota Ward + Wikipedia = Otapedia!

And so, Otapedia was born — a local encyclopedia for Ota Ward.

As of today, I’m officially (and unofficially) stepping into
the role of Otapedia’s founder.

To mark the launch, I even asked ChatGPT to help design a logo.
From here on, we’ll shape this project little by little.

What is Otapedia?

Otapedia is a platform to spotlight lesser-known people,
places, companies, culture, and history of Ota Ward.
We aim to document and share these hidden gems over time.

We'll also post articles outside the main theme — flexible and fun!

I've already featured some of the following (selected) entries:

Oomori Seaweed Road (A Journey Through History)
  ・"Ota's Seaweed Supported by Suwa"
Omori Seaweed Fishermen
・"The Seaweed Fishers Who Changed Their Boats"
Tokyo Fuji Credit Union (now Kyoritsu Credit Union)
・"The Seaweed Fishers Who Changed Their Boats"

・"The Explosion Accident Born of Negligence"

 In closing

Otapedia is all about unearthing the “hidden lights”
buried in the history of Ota Ward.

 Though updates may come irregularly,
several new locations are already lined up.

I’ll continue posting as things take shape
 — thank you for your continued support!

📷 The photo shows the old Tokyu Den-en-chōfu Station building,
originally opened in 1923 and later rebuilt.
The second floor once housed various facilities
— and today, it's joined by Wonder Frog 🐸,— a.k.a. Shion.
