A New Day is a Continuation of Yesterday
When I open the shutters in the morning, I sometimes find myself squinting at the light that rushes in. Even when we intend to be completely detached from the past that was yesterday, the time from yesterday lies stretched out beneath our feet, unbroken.
Now that the word AI reaches our ears almost every day, we are in the midst of a great wave. Technology is evolving at an incredible speed, predicting and showing us even the future a few minutes ahead on the other side of the screen. We desperately scramble to move the future according to our expectations, trying not to be swallowed by the waves of dizzying technological change and unpredictable shifts. But is that change truly completely unpredictable?
I pause for a moment and place my hand on my chest. Many of the changes we feel are unpredictable are, in fact, likely just us turning a blind eye to the signs of change. Overwhelmed by convenient technology and distracted by the anxiety and impatience within ourselves, we may have overlooked the small signs of change that were quietly occurring right in front of us.
Dialogue with AI sometimes gives us a preview of the future. The future scenarios and predictions reflected on that screen may seem fun, and at times, objective. However, they are not meant to threaten us, but rather serve as a mirror to gently re-examine the trajectory leading up to yesterday. Instead of being afraid of an unpredictable future, we should consider how to sow the small seeds that connect yesterday to today, and today to tomorrow. The right to make that choice always remains in our hands.
Even habits we have been disappointed in can be changed for the better through today's realizations. People who are doing well leave a little extra space in their hearts to open a new page that is a continuation of yesterday. What we can do for the future is not just about grand ambitions or perfect plans. It is about carefully re-tasting the day that is today with our own breath. That quiet passion changes the tomorrow that seems unpredictable and creates a steady path forward.
