Winter Light, Light of Grace #21-Horizontal Ethics & Vertical Grace【THE COMPLETE ARCHIVE】
“Happiness was already there.”
Those who live horizontally, and those who pray vertically. Two winters that never intersect, heading toward the same spring.
“A story of rebirth depicted through ‘10 questions’ about happiness”
『Synopsis』
“What is happiness, anyway?”
Carrying that unanswerable question, Misaki welcomes winter.
She plants small bulbs on her balcony, continuing to waver amidst her work and her days with her lover.
Spending the same winter, her lover Kazuya also loses sight of himself the more he tries to be perfect, quietly coming to a standstill.
Passing each other by, holding onto unspoken feelings, the distance between the two slowly grows.
Even so, Misaki finds tiny salvations in casual conversations and the scenery of the seasons.
Eventually, when she realizes that she “doesn’t have to cling to anything,” she chooses to part ways.
It was a decision that, amidst the sadness, felt somehow clear.
Meanwhile, at the depths of frustration and loneliness, Kazuya encounters a reality that cannot be managed by his own strength alone.
The winter night sky, and the light that quietly shines through.
He encounters things that were just there, even though he wasn't looking for them.
Before long, spring arrives.
Sprouts are born from the soil, and light descends from the sky.
It seems as if nothing has changed, yet something has certainly changed.
The paths of the two will never cross again.
Even so, under the same sky, each of them begins to walk toward a new spring from their own place.

Summer had arrived.
Misaki was at a distant beach with her best friend.
The warmth of the sand, the scent of the waves, the sound of laughter.
She didn't send the photos to anyone; she just took them.
That was enough.
Kazuya started waking up a little earlier every morning.
He touched the morning light, feeling both the cold and warmth of the air at the same time.
That moment filled his heart.
He brewed a cup of coffee with care.
For Kazuya now, that simple act felt softly familiar.
