Having someone express who I am
This is sudden, but my work has been turned into a game!

It is called "Verbalization Bootcamp".
It was created by a legendary AI game creator.
This legend is someone who works on game development utilizing generative AI.
Their book is titled
"A Super Introduction to Game Development with Generative AI: How I Changed My Life Through AI and Game Creation with Zero Programming Knowledge"
.

I have become good friends with this legend through X.
They are always using generative AI to create interesting games, and I have been enjoying their posts, thinking, "I can't believe they can even turn this into a game."
And now, this legend has created a game based on my work.
It is truly amazing.
📚
How do you turn "verbalization" into a game?
I usually work by engaging in dialogue with companies and business owners to put the thoughts and strengths embedded in their businesses into words.
I am involved in corporate public relations and recruitment PR, and I help manage corporate note accounts.
For individuals, as the sole editor of the note media "Tashikana Koto" (Certain Things),
I deliver the stories behind people's lives and activities,
and I also provide help with articulating thoughts through note
and offer career consultations for freelancers.
What I think about when I work
is not "writing beautiful sentences."
Who do I want to reach?
What do I want them to feel?
What have companies and individuals cherished?
Which words should I choose, and in what order should I convey them so that their true self comes across?
Rather than just lining up the stories I've heard,
I find the core message that needs to be conveyed through dialogue
and edit it into a form that reaches the reader.
It is a job that is hard to see in terms of form, and there is no single correct answer.
That is why I was surprised when Legend-san told me,
"I turned your work into a game, Kimata-san."
"How on earth do you turn the work of thinking about words into a game?" I wondered.
📚
I, the person who served as the motif, naturally got it wrong.
The game
starts with a targeting problem where you think about "who you are delivering to and what you are delivering."

"I see. This is what I usually think about."
I proceeded with that thought in mind, but
the 'me' that served as the motif simply got it wrong (lol).
And quite frequently, too (how embarrassing).
"This game is based on what's inside my head, right...?"
I thought, staring at the incorrect characters.
It was frustrating, so I played it many times.
The legend was one step ahead of me...
Clicking the URL below will start the game, but
you probably won't be able to finish it in one go.
[Verbalization Bootcamp based on my work]
There was also an editing battle where you spot the awkwardness in the text,
but I got all the questions right on this one (ahem).
Partway through, I started to find pleasure in spotting the awkwardness in the text.
This might be a complete occupational hazard (lol).

📚
Things I did by intuition are being put into words
As I progressed through the game, there was something that made me think again.
Why is it hard to convey with these words?
Why does this order make the impression weaker?
Where exactly does that company's uniqueness reside?
Usually,
"This conveys it better"
or "This expression feels a bit awkward," I felt like I often judge things intuitively.
However, when presented as a game problem,
what I was "looking at" became organized.
I was thinking about the readers on the other side of the words and the goals of the company sending the message, as well as what that person truly wants to convey.
I was thinking about what that person truly wants to convey.
As I answered each question one by one,
I had a strange feeling,
as if I were observing the thought processes behind my own work from the outside.
📚
Finding "the essence of a person" through verbalization
When you hear the terms corporate branding or personal branding,
you might think it is a job about disseminating information or neatly summarizing a company's appeal.
Of course, that is also an important role.
However, what I value most in my work is the more foundational part. Before deciding what to communicate,
I find what that company or person truly values.
What path have they walked until now?
Why do they continue those activities or that business?
What kind of relationship do they want to build with their readers and customers?
I find these thoughts, which cannot be put into words immediately,
together through repeated dialogue.
And then, I edit that "essence of the person" into words that reach others.
I am proud to do this work,
which involves finding the "certainties" within a company or an individual
and building a bridge between them and society.
The game that Legend-san created
was packed with the ideas that I hold dear.
📚
The joy of having your own work expressed by someone else
Having someone other than yourself express your own work and way of thinking.
I felt that this is also an opportunity to discover aspects and interesting qualities that I had not noticed myself.
Just as I usually listen to the stories of companies and individuals
and turn their charm and stories into content,
Legend-san carefully interpreted my work
and turned it into a game.
Not by "writing text" or "creating a design,"
but in the form of "making a game."
When the form of expression changes, the people it reaches and how it is conveyed also change.
The interesting thing about generative AI is not just that it can streamline tasks.
I realized that it also lies in the ability to combine jobs that were previously unrelated
and create new ways of delivering value.
Because I myself work in a field that uses words to convey someone's activities,
this experience was a great inspiration to me.
Legend-san, thank you once again!

Can someone like me with a humanities background really make a game!?
And now, having had Legend-san make a game for me, I've come up with a new project.
It is
Can someone like me with a humanities background really make a game!?
is the challenge.
Instead of just ending with "It was fun to have it made for me,"I have decided to try making a game myself this time!
That said, I have no knowledge of programming
nor any experience in game development.
I also purchased Legend-san's book,
but the book that arrived is quite thick.

When you open the page, there is also a lot of code included.
To be honest,
I felt quite anxious, thinking, "Oh my... can I really do this?" (lol).
However, when I asked the person himself, he said, "It's super easy."
(I'm still skeptical, though.)
I tend to rely on others quite a bit, so I intend to

I plan to abuse the rights provided as a benefit for book purchasers without hesitation.
・The right to ask anything about game development
・The right to have assets for the game created
・The right to have a game banner created
And so on.
I'm the type who relies on others, asking questions about things I don't understand, having difficult assets made for me, and even asking for banners.
I'm not sure if I can really say I "made the game myself," but
my first goal is to complete it.

I want to make a shark game that my son loves
So, what kind of game will I make?
When the legend asked me, "Is there anything your son is into?" I immediately replied, "Sharks."
What I'm thinking about for now is
a game themed around the "sharks 🦈" that my son loves.
I want to give this as a gift to my son, who memorizes shark names, looks at picture books, and swims around the house pretending to be a shark!
Can I, a liberal arts person who has lived almost entirely without games,
really complete a game?
I would like to share the process, including the challenges I face.
My reckless challenge, having grown up in a household where games were forbidden since childhood,
I would be happy if you could support me!
