There are views that can only be seen by taking a detour—May 19th teaches us the 'courage to stray from the path'

■ Life is not just about the 'right path'

The theme for May 19th this time was the phrase,
“Sometimes it’s good to stray from the path.”

We usually live our lives thinking,
“Be serious,” “Do it right,” and “Don’t fail.”
Of course, that is important.

But life doesn't mean you will be happy just by choosing the “correct answers” every time.

Sometimes, take a detour. Take the long way around. Take the plunge and step outside of where you are now.

It may be that
truly important insights are hidden within such experiences.

■ The scenery you see after straying from the path

Getterz Iida says,
“There are landscapes that can only be seen by taking detours, going the long way, and straying from the path.”

In fact, if you only walk the same path, the people you meet and the scenery you see will be limited.

But by choosing a slightly different path, you may encounter
new values, have
unexpected experiences, or
realize your true feelings.

Straying from the path also brings anxiety. That is why I believe
“resolve” is necessary.

■ Supporters gather for those who have made up their minds

If your feelings are half-hearted, those around you will also react in a half-hearted way.

However, when you start moving with the
resolve to “try it” or “take on a challenge,”, you may mysteriously find that
people who support and cooperate with you appear.

Instead of continuing to complain,
take a step forward, even if it is small.

Because you only live once, perhaps it is okay to sometimes
“prioritize your true feelings.”

■ Straying from the path puts your humanity to the test

However, the more freely you live, the more important the basics of being a person become.

Common sense.
Greetings.
Manners.
Rules.
Trusting relationships with others.

The more you stray from the path, the more important this 'humanity' becomes—
That sentiment also left a deep impression on me.

Freedom is not about doing whatever you want, but rather
choosing your life with your own responsibility.

■ Happiness lies in the 'ability to enjoy'

Taking the easy way out.
Having a lot of money.

That is not the only form of happiness.

Being able to 'enjoy life.'
Being able to notice small happinesses.

I believe that this power is what
truly enriches your life.

Today, too, try walking a different path than usual.
Such a small detour might show you a new view.
