The Nikon Comedy Wildlife Photography awards searches for the funniest animal photograph each year.
Forty photographs have been selected for the final of the competition's main category, with the winners in all categories being announced on 8 December.
Among the finalists is Finnish photographer Tapani Linnanmäki.
In Linnanmäki's photograph, a white-tailed eagle walks across the ice in Kustavi, in southwest Finland.
Linnanmäki's photograph of an eagle also reached the competition final two years ago.
He tells Yle that white-tailed eagles can be attracted to the area with herring or fish scraps.
When the photograph was taken, the camera was placed on the ice on a low tripod, with the lens set to a focal length of 48 millimetres.
"A white-tailed eagle is always a striking sight," Linnanmäki says.
The 2025 final also featured photographs by two Finnish photographers.
The competition aims to use humour and photography to encourage greater awareness of wildlife conservation and the importance of protecting biodiversity.
Below is Yle's selection of some of the other photographs to have made this year's final.
