Camp Durant

For generations, Camp Durant has been a place where Scouts unplug, explore the outdoors on 2,400 acres of forests and lakes near Carthage, North Carolina, and make memories that last a lifetime. With beautiful campsites, exciting programs, and endless opportunities for adventure, it’s a place Scouts are proud to call home.

Summer Camp

There’s nothing quite like summer camp at Camp Durant. Spend a week swimming, climbing, learning new skills, and making friends while enjoying comfortable platform tents, an air-conditioned dining hall, as well as the adventure, fun, and traditions that keep Scouts coming back year after year.

Camp Campbell

Located on the shores of Kerr Lake just north of the North Carolina–Virginia border, Camp Campbell offers a rustic, back-to-nature camping experience with waterfront access, primitive campsites, and plenty of room for outdoor adventure.

Camp Reeves

Located near Carthage, North Carolina, Camp Reeves is the more primitive side of the Occoneechee Scout Reservation, featuring open camping areas, wooded campsites, and a peaceful setting perfect for unit camping and outdoor skills development.

The Occoneechee Council Alumni Association brings together former Scouts, Scouters, volunteers, and supporters who want to stay connected to the Scouting movement. National & International Scouting

Experience Scouting beyond your backyard! Learn about council-sponsored participation in National Jamborees, World Scout events, international Scouting exchanges, and travel opportunities. Broaden horizons and connect with Scouts around the globe.

Climbing & COPE (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience)

Take adventure vertical! Climbing and COPE programs provide safe, unforgettable experiences in teamwork, self-confidence, and overcoming obstacles. Activities are led by certified instructors at council and district events.

Aquatics

Dive into fun and skill-building with council aquatics programs! Units can participate in swimming, canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddling, and more with council-approved locations and equipment.

High Adventure

High Adventure programs offer Scouts thrilling outdoor experiences that build teamwork and leadership. From backpacking and paddling to climbing and survival, these trips create lasting memories and lifelong confidence. Learn more and plan your adventure at the National High Adventure Bases.

Range and Target Activities

Scouting provides safe instruction and exciting experiences in archery, BB gun, rifle, and shotgun shooting. All council range activities are managed by qualified instructors.

Camping

Camping is the heart of Scouting. Find council camporees, overnight family camps, summer camps, and high adventure treks.

Orienteering

Orienteering challenges Scouts to use map and compass skills to navigate through unfamiliar terrain, building confidence, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork. It’s a fun, practical adventure that sharpens outdoor skills and promotes self-reliance.

Fishing

Fishing offers Scouts a fun and rewarding way to develop outdoor skills, patience, and conservation awareness. Through fishing activities and merit badges, units can engage youth in hands-on learning while fostering an appreciation for nature and responsible outdoor ethics.

STEM/NOVA

Explore the exciting world of STEM with the NOVA Awards program! Engage in hands-on activities that build skills in science, technology, engineering, and math while earning recognition for your achievements. Perfect for Scouts eager to innovate and discover.
