Lowering the hurdle for "writing" makes me want to write even more
I'm sleepy.
My head feels foggy and I'm not in top form.
And it's only Tuesday.
I've been saying things like this a lot lately.
Is it the atmospheric pressure?
I think that and check the weather pain forecast, but the word "Safe" is displayed there.
Why?
I'm certainly not feeling safe.
If it said "Caution," I could think, "Ah, it's the pressure, nothing I can do about that."
Thinking that, I'm going home early today.
I want to rest properly.
While writing things like that, I'm writing this note today as well.
I've been posting every day for half a year now.
I wonder why.
Of course, part of it is that I like "writing."
But a big reason is that the hurdle for writing has been lowered.
I started my note two and a half years ago.
Since I had originally been writing a diary, I was able to keep posting every day from the start.
And luckily, I was followed by quite a lot of people.
I also got a lot of "likes."
On top of that, I even got work through note.
But after about 100 days, I stopped updating.
Of course, part of it was that work was busy.
But the big reason was that I raised the hurdle for "writing" too high.
"This topic seems like it will be popular."
"I have to write an article for the next official project."
"I'll make a twist here that betrays the reader's expectations."
When I tried to write, so many ideas—or rather, worldly desires—would pop into my head.
And thinking, "I want to write a 'better' article," I would put my heart and soul into writing every day.
Since I'm a nervous perfectionist, once it gets to this point, I can't cut corners.
Before I knew it, it was normal for writing time to exceed 1.5 hours.
This isn't sustainable.
Because of that, once I stepped away, "writing" became a chore.
More than a year has passed since then, and now I'm at the point where I just dash it off and publish it.
The hurdle has dropped significantly.
When it's like this, I start wanting to write more and more.
I try writing with ideas that popped into my head on the way home.
I don't spend much time writing either.
I was idly thinking about things like that today.
Then, just at that moment, "Kotobato" posted an article like this.
When I first started note, I was only looking at the scoreboard.
I was desperately thinking about PVs, the number of likes, and topics that would get picked up.
I prioritized what would be popular if I wrote it over what I wanted to write.
And I made writing an obligation, not trying to enjoy it.
Of course, I still write articles where I put in extra effort sometimes.
But that's like a match in sports.
Sometimes it's more interesting for me to write with all my might.
When the article I wrote for a submission project the other day was picked up by the management, I was happy, as expected.
But if I get greedy every time, I'll burn out.
From now on, I'll keep writing in a dash, in a good sense of being casual, within a range where I can enjoy it myself.
