The connections forged by 'What are you talking about' | Stories of Sanchi | Tuba
A story about how Sanchi picked up my words
A little while ago, Sanchi
introduced me in an article.
Sanchi is a creator who
plays the tuba in their late 40s
and shares content on note.
When I read their work, I feel that they are someone who
writes sentences that exude a love for music and
warmth toward people.
In that article,
Sanchi wrote this.
“One of the note creators I admire, Yoiho Suzumori”
The moment I read it, I was quietly surprised.
That I, a small account
with not even 1,000 followers yet,
could be someone's object of admiration...
I felt a bit ticklish,
but also very happy,
and I didn't know
what to write in reply.
Still, wanting to convey my gratitude,
I left some words in the comment section.
It seems Sanchi
learned about 'What are you talking about'
because of my article.
The article I wrote about Fushikaden.
“What is something that will be read 10 years from now, 100 years from now?”
Looking at the tag of that article
which I wrote while holding that question,
they followed the trail to me.
Learning that sequence of events, I was deeply moved.
My own encounter with that tag
was also sparked by a creator's article.
I wrote about that in an article before.
That is why the way Sanchi
followed the tag 'without much thought,'
and eventually connected with Konishi-san,
felt somewhat like my own experience.
I still reread our exchange
in the comment section several times.
Among the words Sanchi wrote,
there was this sentence.
“Thanks to Yoiho-san, I was able to learn about 'What are you talking about,' and I was also able to connect with Konishi-san.”
Someone's words move someone else,
and reach yet another person.
In that quiet chain,
knowing that my own words were mixed in as a single grain
made me feel like I had found one more reason to keep writing on note.
I expressed the feelings I felt in the comments
frankly, in words like these.
“The words Sanchi wrote have reached someone, and there is someone who reads them properly. Both Sanchi's heart and the heart of the person who received them are moved. And so, it quietly connects to someone else again.”
As I wrote this, perhaps I was
telling it to myself as well.
Even on days when I think they might not reach anyone, I write.
But sometimes they do reach someone.
And one day, someone tells me that.
The two notes were
collected in the 'What are you talking about Department' newsletter.
I feel like Sanchi taught me once again
the wonder of note and the warmth of those connections.
Sanchi, thank you so much.
Your article has become a treasure to me.
