Beyond the number 400,000, you were there

It's been 8 months since I started note.
It will be 9 months soon.

The other day, as I was
idly gazing at the numbers on my dashboard,
I saw that my total views had exceeded 400,000.

I don't think the me who had just started writing
would believe me if I showed her this number.

Back then,
in a place where perhaps no one was reading,
I still placed my words, one by one, every day.

Every time I received a like,
it felt like I could finally confirm
that there was someone on the other side of the screen. That was the feeling.

The number 400,000 certainly looks large.
But to me, it is less of a "number"
and more like "footprints."

400,000 times, my words
brushed past someone's screen.

Most of them
are just presences passing by without me even knowing their names.

However, among them, there were people who stopped their fingers.

The 57,000 moments when you pressed like.
The 5,700 voices that left comments.

That is proof that in a field of vision that was just passing by,
someone stopped for just a moment.

When I think of it that way, the coldness of the numbers
suddenly turns into something warm.

To be honest,
not every day was light and easy to write.

Working full-time as a civil servant,
I spent my days writing words on just my iPhone in the gaps of my time.

Even though I started because I enjoyed writing,
there were times when my words didn't reach people the way I wanted them to.

The reason I was still able to continue
is because of the small exchanges
we had in the comment section.

"I'm looking forward to the next one"

I don't know how many times I was saved by those words.
I don't know how many times I was encouraged
by knowing that there were companions just like me.

The number 5,700 is the accumulation of those dialogues.
It's not a one-way street; I believe it is proof that there was
a genuine "conversation" there.

From here on out, I don't intend to make it my goal
to turn 400,000 into 500,000.

Numbers are not something to chase,
but something that quietly remains when you look back.

What I want to cherish is
that feeling you get
when your heart warms up just a little after finishing an article.

A faint warmth found within the cold.
Not a loud assertion, but an atmosphere that gently draws near.

I hope to continue writing about that with care.
