[Book Review] The Textbook of Blog Writing: A Life-Saving Book That Solved the Problem of "How Should I Write?"
Introduction
When I first started on note, I had many thoughts I wanted to share, but I didn't know how to organize them into the form of
an article and I was stuck.
That's right.
"I had things I wanted to write, but I couldn't write them."
As a writing beginner, it was Daisuke Nakajima's
"The Textbook of Blog Writing"
that taught me from scratch how to structure my writing.
I haven't mastered everything written in the book perfectly.
However, the "three foundations" I learned from this book have dramatically changed my writing.
Before I get into the main topic, please let me talk about this book.

1. Make a promise to the reader in the "lead paragraph"

To begin with, what is a "lead paragraph"?
In a nutshell, it is
the introductory text at the beginning of an article.
It is the few lines of text that a reader sees first after clicking on the title.
When I was a beginner, I thought this was just a greeting.
But after reading this book, I learned that the lead paragraph has a much more important role.
It is the place where you make a promise to the reader about
whether or not they should continue reading further
that is.
- Who is this article for? (Target Audience)
- What are the benefits of reading this article? (Benefits Gained)
- Why am I writing this? (Credibility)
At the station ticket gate
"This train will take you to your destination"
Just like providing guidance, you place a signpost so that the reader doesn't get lost.
That is
the role of the lead paragraph that I learned from this book.
Since learning this importance,
I have been able to "organize who I am delivering to and what I am delivering" before I start writing.
I believe that being considerate of the reader's feelings at the beginning is the first step toward
"sincere hospitality" to ensure they read until the end.
2. "Headings" are signposts for the reader

Before that, I used to
write sentences without paying much attention to headings.
However, through this book, I learned that headings are not just breaks, but
"a map for readers to understand the content at a glance."
Because there are headings,
readers can read on with peace of mind.
By learning this "form,"
my previously scattered article writing began to take shape as
"readable material."
3. Thoroughly refining the "appearance on smartphones"

And what I still value most is the
"polishing" after writing, especially
"checking the smartphone display."
Most readers today
read articles on their smartphones.
Even if it looks clean on a PC,
it can be hard to read on a smartphone because the text is cramped...
To avoid putting that burden on the reader,
I adjust line breaks and margins to fit the smartphone screen.
By learning this humble,
yet essential "extra effort," I feel that I am reducing the stress on the reader's side.
In conclusion

"The Textbook of Blog Writing."
This book not only taught me "techniques," but also
"the kindness to walk alongside the reader until the very end."
It taught me that.
"I don't know what to write first," "I can't get people to read until the end."
If you are struggling with such worries,
please try the teachings of this book, starting with just one "heading" or one "line break."
Those small efforts will surely
deliver your words directly
to someone who needs them.
