The Invisible Someone in Her World
"It was a lovely day today, wasn't it?"
On the way back from day care.
In the car driving through the sunset, we were having our usual, trivial conversation.
I never imagined that a moment later, a chill would run down my spine.

In the car on the way home, she pointed at the side mirror outside the window.
"I wonder where the old lady who was here went?"
There was no one else outside or inside the car but us.
From the very beginning.
Things like this happen from time to time.
Even though there shouldn't be anyone there, she sees someone.
It seems that within the workings of her brain, she really does "see" them.
That is why I do not deny it.
I do not say, "There is no one there."
"What kind of old lady was she?"
When I asked that, she smiled a little and looked out the window again.
I wonder what she was seeing.
It's scary, but it's a little different from that.
In her world, there are things I cannot see, and they are certainly there.
I still do not truly know that world.
