Are you struggling with a lack of motivation? You want to work hard but can't get moving, and you find yourself sighing again today.
This is YUKI from the Bishin Body Method 🌷
Lately, haven't you been thinking that you need to exercise?
For your health, for your beauty, for your future.
Even though you understand it perfectly in your head, your body just won't move.
By the time work is over, you're already exhausted,
and you end up thinking, "I'm tired today, so I'll just do it tomorrow."
On the weekends, you think, "I worked hard during the week, so I want to take it easy today."
As you repeat those days,
the things you know you "have to do"
start to feel more and more like "pressure."
I'll start when spring comes,
after it gets a little warmer,
once it gets a little cooler...
That's how one season after another passes by.
Even though you have the feeling that you "should" exercise,
the first step to actually "doing it" feels incredibly heavy.
"Is my willpower just weak?"
"I hate that I can't keep it up."
You might even blame yourself like that sometimes.
But that's not because you're being lazy.
In fact, the human brain and body have a "force to maintain the status quo (homeostasis)" at work, and when you start something new, you are naturally designed to feel "resistance."

🌿But motivation is born after you take action
If you think, "I'll exercise when I feel motivated,"
the day you start might never come 💦
Because, psychologically speaking,
it is known that emotions (motivation) follow after action 🌈
💡Theory explaining this: "Behavioral Activation Theory"
This is a psychological concept also used in the treatment of depression and low motivation.
When people are feeling down,
"I can't move because I'm not in the mood" → "I feel even more depressed because I'm not moving"
They tend to fall into this negative loop,
but conversely,
👉By "trying to take action even if you're not in the mood," your body becomes activated, "happiness hormones" like dopamine and serotonin are secreted in your brain, and motivation and positive feelings naturally emerge ✨
In other words,
not Mood → Action, but Action → Mood
is the true mechanism where things change in that order 💪

But it's not that simple
However, I think many people say, "I know that, but I just can't move."
"Taking action even when you're not in the mood" is,
not as easy as it sounds, is it?
What's important here is to lower the hurdle so much that you can do it even without motivation.
For example
👟 Just changing into workout clothes is OK
🧘♀️ Just doing 1 minute of stretching is OK
🚶♀️ Just stepping out the front door and taking a deep breath is OK
You just need to create such a small trigger 🌸
The brain has a property where it naturally focuses on what you are doing once you "start moving."
So, if you start moving for even just 1 minute,
"Since I'm at it, maybe I'll do a little more"
"This might actually feel good"
and the flow of your mood will change little by little ✨
When you don't feel motivated, I recommend not trying to do something big, but instead making it your goal to create a "trigger"
💫That is a much more realistic way to build habits that are kind to both your mind and body than aiming for perfection.
Today, too, "try moving just a little bit"
That one step will be the switch that awakens your motivation 🌈💗

🌸The reason why moving your body turns on your "motivation switch"
Scientifically, when you do light exercise, the following reactions occur 👇
1️⃣ Blood flow improves, and the brain is activated
→ Concentration and thinking ability increase ✨
2️⃣ Dopamine is secreted
→ You think, "Maybe I'll do a little more."
3️⃣ Serotonin increases
→ Your mood stabilizes and you become positive.
4️⃣ A sense of accomplishment (competence) is born
→ "I did it!" leads to confidence, and the desire to do it again ❤️
In other words, by moving your body, both your brain and mind are activated,
which means the mechanism to "create motivation" is at work ✨

💬Summary
・People instinctively dislike change (homeostasis)
・But, taking action creates mood and motivation (Behavioral Activation Theory)
・Light exercise activates the brain, and motivation rises naturally ✨
・The trick is not to do it when you feel motivated, but to get motivated after you do it 🌸
・Creating small triggers is important
