Launch of AI Deterrent Camera Installation and Setup Service for Car Dealerships and Parking Lots
Hello, this is Tech Matsumoto.
I used to be an IT service provider for solar power plants, but while fighting against copper cable theft, my main business has now become the sales expansion and tuning of "AI Deterrent Cameras."
"AI Deterrent Camera" is a name I came up with myself.
They record bright color footage even at night, use AI to identify humans and vehicles, and when they cross a line on the screen, they detect them and deter them with sound and light.
Over 200 units are currently operating at more than 50 solar power plant locations.
Thanks to you, my track record of successfully protecting power plants and know-how are growing. If you are interested, please take a look at the link.
Why not protect your car with an AI deterrent camera?
The Reality of Vehicle Theft
The patterns of "theft" crimes are diversifying. I collect information daily to combat theft at solar power plants, and it seems that the number of vehicle thefts is as high as the number of copper wire thefts at solar power plants.

Copper wire theft at solar power plants is seeing signs of deterrence as "ordinances and legal regulations on copper purchasing" progress, but there are no laws to counter "vehicle theft," and it is a lawless state.
Even if they are caught, criminals know that the penalties for "theft" are lenient, and there is a sense that they are "no longer afraid."
As of February 2025, newspaper reports are not very active, and TV news seems to be aiming for shocking footage.
With car thieves currently "running wild," the only option is to take measures and self-defense on your own.
There are many commonalities between car theft and copper cable theft scenes at solar power plants.
For example, "a tendency for scouting," "locations that are easy to intrude into," "being unmanned at night," and "organized division of labor crimes." Therefore, I believe that similar security measures can be effective to some extent.
Track record of introducing "AI deterrent cameras" to car sites
A car dealership in Chiba Prefecture and a commercial facility parking lot and company parking space in Yamanashi have adopted multiple "AI deterrent cameras." (As of February 2025)
At this point, no vehicle thefts or attempted thefts have occurred, so there is no footage of repelling them, but we have been able to deter them through intrusion -> detection -> alarm & flash. When detected, you will be notified on your smartphone and can check the footage.
If you report to the police that "there is a suspicious person," the police will rush to the scene.
Reference footage (not theft/suspicious person)
AI deterrent camera footage during the day (early morning): Alarm & flash upon entering the premises
23:00: Alarm & flash upon approaching the office to put documents in the mailbox
I have set it so that the alarm does not sound during the day.
Installing indoor cameras is also effective.
They record in color even at night, appearing brighter than the naked eye. Also, even if there are no streetlights, the camera's LED can often provide the necessary amount of light. -> Reference power plant footage
The reason we introduced the AI deterrent camera here was that the landlord (who lives on the adjacent property) had three vehicles parked in front of his house stolen in one night in the past, and when the tenant opened a dealership, they contacted Sekine Electric Service (a partner of Tech Matsumoto), an old acquaintance, and it was decided to introduce it. <Construction in March 2024>
The panorama type provides a 180-degree view.
It was mainly introduced as a measure against unauthorized parking.

Verifying the new AI deterrent camera
"Conventional security cameras" cannot deter theft crimes
Until 2022, we used conventional security cameras at solar power plants, but they could not prevent copper wire theft..
It seems that perpetrators do not notice the presence of security cameras, and even if the crime is recorded, it does not lead to an arrest.
Repel perpetrators with deterrent cameras
When we introduced the AI deterrent cameras that appeared in 2023, we were able to confirm perpetrators being surprised and fleeing.
Since then,we have succeeded in repelling them one after another.
Since it records in color even at night, it serves as definitive evidence, and there have been cases that led to arrests. (*There were failures during the period when we lacked know-how)
■ After watching security camera footage of vehicle theft on TV news, I thought, 'If it had been an AI deterrent camera, it might have ended in an attempted crime,' and 'I want to protect cars too.'
Crime patterns are also becoming diverse. AI deterrent cameras are not a panacea, but if you are looking for'a camera with the potential to deter' or 'a tuner with a track record/know-how in repelling them',please consult with Tech Matsumoto.
Police, and even involving the legislature,I want to eradicate theft crimes in Japan together with everyone.
Cost Reference
◎ It mainly depends on the budget.
If simple installation is sufficient, it can be introduced for around 100,000 yen per AI deterrent camera.
If another security/surveillance camera is already installed, it can be introduced at a lower cost by 'replacing' or 'adding' it.
-
Equipment cost: About 40% more than conventional security cameras
Cameras vary depending on pixel count, light illumination type, panoramic type, etc.
Varies depending on recording method (recorder, MicroSD, cloud), etc.
Outdoor installation is more expensive than indoor, and varies depending on the manufacturer of the materials used, etc.
Internet can be used with either fiber-optic lines or low-cost 4G lines. (200kbps or higher required)
*We cannot handle conventional security cameras (without AI/deterrent functions)
We also accept tuning for AI cameras installed by other companies.
We also handle 'abandoned' projects where an AI camera was introduced but does not detect, has many false detections, does not show images, or where installation was done but settings were refused.
Finally
At present, there are AI false detections at night, so we are using tuning techniques to improve accuracy. Please note that next-generation AI cameras have been announced, but at this stage, they would be an experimental introduction.
Please consider introducing an AI deterrent camera as if you were taking out another vehicle insurance policy.
