#9 "The Switch to Shift Your Mind"
It is a pleasant Monday morning, a public holiday, and the weather is clear✨
Good morning!
It is time for happiness research😊
Hello, fellow happiness researchers!
well-being✨
Let's have fun learning again today♪
Last time, we covered #8 "Is Concentration Mindfulness?!"
To achieve a mindful state, focus your mind on the "here and now"!
Your concentration will improve, and your mind will feel clear!
Flow is concentration you enter unconsciously, while mindfulness is concentrating consciously!
That was it, right?😊
Today's Theme
⭐️ "The Switch to Shift Your Mindset"
I can't seem to shift my mindset...
Feeling irritated for a long time,
Going around in circles thinking about things,
It's hard to switch gears, isn't it!
It's a distracted,
mindless state 💧
Shifting your mindset
A "mental switch"
would be nice to have ✨
From a mindless state
↓
To a mindful state!
To reach a mindful state,
Focus your mind on the "here and now"!
(We did this last time, didn't we?♪→#8 )
You can "shift your mindset"!
That's what it means, right?😊
Come on! Let's find that "mental switch"✨
⭐️ Find something to focus on in the here and now!
A typical practice for this is meditation, but
anything that helps you focus on the here and now is
perfectly fine👍✨ (←Good news✨👀)
Breathing, reading, movement, anything is fine!
Breathing is fine to focus on! Gratitude is also fine to focus on!
Actions can also be done mindfully!
Just watching the sand fall in an hourglass is also fine!
There is also a practice called mindful eating, where you take your time eating a raisin.
Feeling your five senses,
or observing as if you are just watching,
The point is,
to consciously direct your attention and focus on the "here and now"!
In meditation,
you use forms to reach a mindful state!
Meditation focusing on breathing, meditation on gratitude, eating meditation, walking meditation, loving-kindness meditation, etc.
⭐️ Here, for the practice of "here and now" mindfulness
I would like to introduce a wonderful article😊
Uchu Kacchi-san was savoring food with all five senses!
They are truly practicing mindfulness!
Regarding food, they speak about living in the "here and now"✨
- Excerpt from the article -
My personal rule is to focus on eating when eating, and focus on drinking when drinking. That is what it means to live in the present.
When eating, focus on savoring. See it with your eyes, touch it with your chopsticks, feel it with your lips and tongue, chew it with your teeth, break down the flavors, swallow it down your throat, and thoroughly trace its path as it passes through the esophagus and reaches the stomach. Even during conversation, I want to focus as much as possible only on the food in front of me.
When I was a child, I was told not to watch TV while eating. The reason given was that it was rude to the person who made it, but that's not all there is to it. It's for me to live in the present.
- From the comments section -
This is the theme I was thinking of writing about after seeing Yu-yu-san's article. I'm not well-versed in mindfulness, but I think the state of living in the moment, detached from all past and future, is the 'zone.' Eating helps with that.
I think this is a very helpful practice of mindfulness✨
Please, do read the article😊
Uchu no Kacchi-san,
thank you for weaving mindfulness and the "here and now" into such wonderful words
💖
⭐️Postscript (2021.09.21)
Jijiji no Ji-san's article is also helpful✨
⭐️ By focusing on what is right in front of you "here and now",
you can enter a mindful state!
It doesn't have to be meditation! ✨👀
The "here and now" is what's important!
Since I'm not good at meditation,
conscious breathing for just a little bit
helps me shift my mindset. 😊
I'm aware that I struggle with shifting gears,
so I have a habit of creating various switches for myself. ✨
Listening to jazz, for example, can flip my cooking switch (lol).
A "mindset-shifting switch" is,
as long as it is an action that can shift your mindset,
anything is fine👍✨
Baseball players often do the same routine when they step into the batter's box, don't they!
They use that same action to switch their mindset!
In that way,
when you have an action to shift your mindset,
it becomes a switch to shift your mindset!
Meditation is one,
focusing on the "here and now" is one,
and physical actions are also ones,
⭐️A switch to shift your own mind,
to the "here and now"!
You could say that, right? 😊
Resetting your mind, finding your inner balance!
Creating a mindful state ✨
Like a monk, always focusing on the here and now
Once you are able to stay in a mindful state,
even without intentionally meditating,
you can maintain a balanced mind ✨
This is what I am aiming for! 🤗
For those who feel they can't do
mindfulness or meditation,
just focus on the "here and now"!
That sounds doable, doesn't it? ♪
Even so, if you still don't understand
let's try to be conscious of moving slowly and carefully♪
[Summary]
⭐️ Shift your mindset and get into a mindful state!
⭐️ Focus your mind on the "here and now"!
⭐️ Create a "mental switch" to shift your mindset!
⭐️ Learn how to compose your mind!
