Introducing peripherals for the VR headset "Meta Quest 3"!
Hello everyone! I'm Sumutemi, a Meta creator. In this post, I'll be introducing some of the peripherals, devices, and apps for the "Meta Quest 3," which is currently one of the mainstream headsets! The items I'm introducing here are based on my own personal experience using them.
Please check here for my profile and activities.
Recommended Peripherals
From here on, I will introduce items that I've actually used and felt were "great!" If anything catches your eye, why not give it a try!
[Head Strap] ★★★★★
This is a head strap that attaches to the Meta Quest 3 unit to improve the fit.
After trying several, I settled on the following product.

"BOBOVR M3 Pro" is the head strap and additional battery I use! The Meta Quest 3 has a drawback where the weight tends to concentrate on the front of the headset, leading to poor front-to-back weight balance. Also, because the headset is designed to fit snugly against the face, the pressure can be a concern.

The head strap I'm introducing here improves the front-to-back weight balance by mounting a battery on the back of the head. Also, this battery is detachable, can be charged via USB Type-C, and extends VR usage time by about 1.5 to 2 hours. Furthermore, by providing a contact surface with the face on the top of the headset, I think it is also excellent in that it
achieves a fit that feels like it's resting on your head.
Updated 2025/7/20: The following is the latest model of BOBOVR's head strap, which includes features like increased battery capacity, a display, and a fan. It's more expensive, but it's better.
[Headset/Controller Cover] ★★★★
These are cover products that protect the Meta Quest 3 unit and controllers!
The product I am currently using was out of stock. Therefore, I will introduce similar products. Even for products I haven't introduced, there are many with similar functions, so please look them up yourself.
There are several types of covers, so I will introduce each one.

Headset Front Cover
This is a cover that protects the front of the headset. It has the effect of preventing dirt from the outside. Depending on the product, there is a possibility that heat from the unit might get trapped, but so far, I haven't encountered such problems.
Headset Inner Cover
This is a cover that protects the contact surface between the headset and your face. With existing products, facial oils and dirt tend to stick to the headset, so I think this is an item you definitely want to introduce. Some products block light from under the nose to increase immersion, but personally, I felt it was more convenient to be able to see my hands and feet.
Controller Cover
This is a cover that protects the controllers. It not only prevents dirt from your hands but also makes it harder for the controllers to fall out of your hands even when you aren't gripping them, so this is also a recommended product. There are various products available, so you should choose based on your preferred color or design.
[Link Cable] ★★★★
This is a wired cable that connects to the Meta Quest 3 unit. Of course, the Meta Quest 3 has sufficient performance wirelessly, but for long-term use, the battery life is not enough. It is also effectively used when using a wired connection instead of Wi-Fi for PCVR connections.
The product introduced above is an unofficial link cable. I tried the official link cable as well, but this one was easier to use.
With the official USB-only link cable, depending on the connected USB port or PC performance, sufficient power supply might not be obtained, and there were times when it could not charge at the originally intended speed.

Since this product separates the USB terminal that connects to the PC and the terminal that provides power, there is no such worry, and the operation is sufficiently stable, so I recommend it. However, this product does not come with a USB Type-C cable (a cable supporting 3A = up to 60W is ideal), so you need to purchase one separately. Use the power adapter included with the Quest 3.
[Prescription Lenses] ★★★
These are prescription lenses that can be attached to the Quest 3 headset. This is a highly recommended product for those with poor uncorrected vision.
The one I use has the advantage of being easy to attach and remove, but if you are the only user, I recommend a thinner lens.
Also, when purchasing, please make sure to check that the lenses have the correct prescription to match the glasses you use.
If you only need standard vision correction, existing products are fine, but if you require precise vision correction, you might want to consider using a custom-made product service.
[Virtual Desktop] ★★★★★
I will introduce the VR app "Virtual Desktop." This is a VR connection app used for PCVR.
You can also use PCVR with the default Meta Quest app "Meta Quest Link," but I recommend "Virtual Desktop" as it is generally superior.
While there is some effort involved in setting up Virtual Desktop, it is easy once configured. Since it offers better image quality and performance compared to Meta Quest Link, you should definitely give it a try.
However, since wired connection is not possible, a 5GHz or higher Wi-Fi wireless router is required. If you share a wireless router with your family, you may not be able to secure enough bandwidth, so I strongly recommend preparing a wireless router dedicated to VR.
[VR Sensor Guide] ★★
I would like to introduce a product that I personally manufacture and sell.
The Meta Quest 3 is equipped with a sensor near the forehead that detects whether the wearer is wearing the headset. However, this sensor can malfunction due to hair or sweat, causing the screen to turn off even when the headset is being worn.
I created this product to solve this malfunction.
It is also useful when multiple people are sharing the VR headset at events, or when the screen-off function gets in the way.

[Quest 3 Official Controller] ★
I will introduce the Meta Quest 3 controller. This is the controller that comes with the headset.
You might think, "Of course I already have one!", but there is a reason why I am going out of my way to recommend this.

Depending on the frequency of use, it is known among users that the Quest 3 controller tends to break after about a year if used three or more days a week. A phenomenon called "drift" occurs, where the stick used for movement causes incorrect inputs.
There are kits available to repair drifting controllers, but I do not recommend them as they are difficult for beginners to handle.
Meta, the company that sells them, has an excellent product warranty service, so they will repair them for free if they are within the warranty period. (They might not replace them with new ones, though.)
However, no matter how many times you repair them, the controller will generally break first, so if you plan to continue using VR, you should buy one.

Since there are not many Quest 3-specific controllers sold separately, there are actual cases where they are being resold at high prices. If they are in stock at the official website link below, I recommend purchasing a spare for both left and right.

[Jintex Kobo Yubitora+] ★★
This is Yubitora+ from Jintex Kobo. This product is a device that adds finger-tracking functionality to the Quest 3 controller.
I was interested in the product, so I actually bought and used it.

My impression of this product's usability is that it "depends on the situation."There were some points where the setup was a bit tricky, but I was able to operate it sufficiently in the environment where I implemented it. However, I felt there were several areas for improvement, such as not being able to attach a cover to the controller, the need to charge it separately from the main unit, and the ease of gripping the handle.

It is a good product if you want to enjoy VR seriously and seek diversity in avatar expression for streaming, etc., but it may not be necessary for general users. In the end, I don't use it on a daily basis either.
I don't use it daily either.
[Full-body tracking device HaritoraX] ★★
"HaritoraX" is a relatively inexpensive and easy-to-adopt full-body tracking device developed by the Japanese company Shiftall.
I purchased and used this product because it is a full-body tracking device that can be easily used in PCVR. It is very convenient because this tracker is small, lightweight, and can be worn under clothes.
I have written articles about other full-body tracking devices in the past, so please check those for more details.
Summary
I have introduced several peripherals, devices, and apps for the Meta Quest 3.
Each product is rated with stars to indicate how much I recommend it. Generally, you won't regret purchasing products with ★★★ or more. They greatly improve the VR experience and immersion!
Products with ★ to ★★ are recommended depending on the user.
When you start collecting the Meta Quest 3 itself and its peripherals, you end up needing more than 100,000 yen easily. VR is indeed a bottomless pit, so make sure to think carefully before choosing products!
