Take a Breath Before You Push Yourself
When you try hard at work or self-improvement, there are times when you start to wonder, "Is this really the right path?" There are plenty of people who seem to coast along with a cool expression while earning more than you, and sometimes those who don't pay any attention to their health end up being healthier than you.
In moments like these, there is a tendency to want to stop putting in the effort. I wonder if this is something everyone feels.
That is, after all, because the real world is by no means fair, and it is proof that there are many things that go unrewarded no matter how hard you try. So, it can't be helped, but it is also a fact that if you don't try at all, nothing will come of it in the end.
However, if I am going to spend my precious time working hard on something, I have decided to take a breath before doing so and consciously think about whether it is truly worth the time and effort before I take action.
I feel that this "breath" is especially important when it comes to work. When I say work, it is particularly important when choosing a job, and it is better to take a good "breath" and think it over during the job-hunting process.
No matter how attractive a company's vision or track record may be, if their business model is unreasonable, you will end up working in a way that requires nothing but hard work to keep growing. If that happens, you will eventually reach your limit, but because you have been working hard for a certain period, it becomes difficult to quit halfway through. You become unable to cut your losses.
Things involving major life events like changing jobs or getting married require a certain amount of resolve and decision-making, so momentum is also necessary. However, if you don't take a breath before charging ahead, you might find yourself unable to turn back.
That said, if you take a breath and still decide that it is attractive, then I think it is best to keep pushing forward with all your might. The fact that there is no turning back is something you knew from the start, and if you realize you've made a mistake, you can just start over again.
This ended up being just a rambling post, but I am leaving it here as a memo of my thoughts.
