The story of how I, who suffered from menorrhagia, listened to my body and changed my life by taking the pill ②

Anxiety and test results
At the time, I didn't know what menorrhagia was, so I was very anxious and worried.
However, the doctor told me that menorrhagia in your teens is mainly caused by hormonal imbalances and I remember feeling a little relieved. The doctor told me not to worry too much, but that menorrhagia can easily lead to
anemia and that gynecological diseases might be hidden as the cause of the bleeding, so I should have a checkup just in case.
The tests I had were an abdominal ultrasound (the kind pregnant women often get, where jelly is applied to the stomach and a device is used to look inside the body) and a blood test.
As a result, there were no abnormalities in either, and I was relieved to conclude that it was indeed caused by hormonal imbalance.
My confusion about being prescribed the pill as a treatment
After the tests, the doctor prescribed an ultra-low-dose pill called "Yaz Flex" to regulate my hormonal imbalance. "Simply put, Yaz Flex is a medication that controls bleeding and pain by suppressing ovulation and preventing the uterine lining from thickening."
When I was told that, I honestly thought, "Wait, is that okay?"
Because at school, I was taught that "menstruation is an important bodily function that women must have."
So, I felt that menstruation shouldn't be stopped. Also, I had the image that the "pill" was
something you take for contraception, so I wondered why it was being prescribed to me.
The doctor's explanation that cleared up my prejudice against the pill
When I asked about these things, the doctor explained them very kindly and carefully.
The content was something like this ↓
Certainly, menstruation is an important bodily function for women. However, menstruation is a process where hormones create a lining in the uterus, which then sheds if there is no pregnancy, so it is inherently
a significant burden on the body. Repeating such menstruation many times can increase the probability of
diseases such as endometriosis, and can also lead to difficulty in future pregnancy and childbirth. Therefore, there is actually little benefit for a woman who has no plans for pregnancy or childbirth to suffer from menstrual pain and discomfort. The pill is a medication that contains hormones produced by the ovaries
. When taken, the original hormone secretion is suppressed. It allows for continuous use for up to 120 days, which can minimize the number of periods. (Bleeding occurs during the drug-free interval.) Because of this, it is known that
menstrual-specific PMS symptoms, bleeding, and pain are significantly improved. Although it is generally known as "a pill with contraceptive effects," there are also
pills not intended for contraception. The "Yaz Flex" prescribed this time is an ultra-low-dose pill
that is not intended for contraception. Ultra-low-dose pills contain less hormone than other pills with contraceptive effects, so they are less likely to cause side effects
. They are mainly used for the treatment and prevention of diseases such as dysmenorrhea and endometriosis. However, since Yaz Flex contains a small amount of hormones, be careful because bleeding can easily start if you forget to take it.
…that was what he said.
Thanks to the detailed explanation, the mysteries I had were resolved, and I felt relieved✨
I recommend that everyone, when you have something you don't understand about your own body, don't hesitate to ask and have the doctor explain it to you honestly.
After the examination, I took one Yaz Flex tablet in the clinic to check for side effects, and as the doctor told me, I sat and waited for a while.
In my case, fortunately, there were no side effects, so I paid at the reception and took home the bag containing the prescribed Yaz Flex.
My life has improved. A new daily life
What happened after that? To start with the result, Yaz Flex brought me
a very positive influence.
First and foremost, the best thing was being freed from the discomfort caused by my period!
Not only did I have less anxiety about bleeding, but the lower abdominal pain and heaviness typical of periods also disappeared as if by magic.
Every day became so much more comfortable, and I was finally able to wear white skirts, which I used to avoid, without hesitation.
My closet is no longer filled with dark-colored clothes like it used to be; instead, it's lined with colorful items that brighten my mood just by looking at them.
Every time I see them, I deeply feel how glad I am that I started taking the pill.
Another great thing is that my skin cleared up.
Since I was in elementary school, I had a constitution where acne would appear on my forehead and cheeks due to hormonal imbalances, but that has stopped.
Having acne-free skin has boosted my self-esteem and confidence, and I find myself smiling more, which makes me so happy ☺️❤️
I believe I owe all of this to Yaz Flex, which I was able to get by gathering the courage to go to the hospital.
I know that the effects of the pill vary from person to person, and some people might not be able to take it due to strong side effects.
However, if there is anyone out there who, like me, is struggling with period-related issues, I hope you will consider taking the pill as an option.
I am sure that your quality of life will improve significantly if you do.
Unlike those days when I suffered from my period, I am now able to live every day with a smile and enjoy life.
I want you to live a happy life just like I do.
That is why I strongly urge you to visit a medical institution without hesitation or endurance if you feel something is wrong with your body 🏥
Finally
Menorrhagia is a surprisingly common menstrual symptom.
It is said to occur in about 1 in every 5 to 10 women.
However, I think most people didn't know the term or what it meant until they read this article.
In the past, I never even dreamed that I might have menorrhagia.
Even when I felt something was off, I would turn a blind eye and ignore it, thinking, 'Well, this is just how it is.'
But after actually receiving treatment, I realized.
Ignoring the signs your body is sending you, whether it's menorrhagia or anything else, means passing on an unhealthy mind and body to your future self.
As someone who has experienced treatment, I want women to properly understand menorrhagia.
I want to share my experience with those who are feeling anxious like I used to.
I want you to know the importance of facing the body you were born with.
That is why I wrote this article.
Since I am still new to writing on Note, I am sure there were many clumsy parts.
Even so, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to you for reading this far.
Thank you so much for reading until the end 🙇
May your mind and body continue to be healthy 🍀
Lastly, it would be a great encouragement if you could hit the 'Like' or 'Follow' button 😆💕
Also, I would be very happy if you could share your thoughts in the comments 💬
For those who want to know more about my personal experience with the pill.
