The picture book my 4-month-old daughter loved the most was Sassy | Parenting Dad Diary #12
I have been reading several picture books to my daughter (4 months old).
Up until now, I have mainly been reading famous picture books to her, but among them, there was one that she reacted to in a clearly different way.
That is the Sassy baby picture book series.
A clearly different reaction
Honestly, I didn't think she would get this hooked on them.
When I show her a Sassy picture book,
she stares intently
she kicks her arms and legs
she smiles on certain pages
There was a clear reaction of looking and feeling.
I was honestly surprised because she didn't have such a reaction to other picture books.
At first, I only read Niko Niko (Smile), but since she was so hooked, I collected other books like Chapu Chapu (Splash), Gao (Roar), and Mogu Mogu (Munch).
Now those are also my daughter's favorites.
Why she got so hooked
What I felt while actually watching her was that they are: ・Clear colors ・Strong contrast ・Simple and easy to see ・Good rhythm.
I felt that they are made so that even babies whose vision is still developing can clearly recognize them.
I realized that there is a real reason why they are for babies.
Realizations as a parent
Originally, she was only interested in picture books that made sounds. She had almost no reaction to quiet picture books. The first one she laughed at was an Eric Carle picture book.
Since passing the 4-month mark, she has started to react well to pictures, colors, and the tone of my voice.
It might just be a small change.
But for a parent, it was a big discovery.
Summary
I've tried various things, but for now, the Sassy series is what my daughter is most into.
