I want to share the most important thing for those about to start a business
Perhaps due to the current social climate, the momentum of people considering "starting a business" shows no signs of stopping.
Many people seem to be seriously researching and thinking about things like
"I want to start a business, but how can I succeed like that person?"
"What should I do to make a lot of money like that person?"
"What kind of trade should I pursue to keep going for a long time like that person?"
It seems they are seriously thinking about and researching such things.
However, it is also a fact that there are many cases where people prepare thoroughly and take the plunge into starting a business, only to quit within a year.
I feel that is such a waste.
You only live once.
If you're going to do it, don't you want to succeed?
That is why I want to tell you this right now!
The most important thing in starting a business.
The blind spot for the majority of people.
Let me start with the conclusion.
One of the biggest factors for success in starting a business, in my opinion, is
"Competing on a playing field where you excel!"
that is what it is.
Do you have some idea of what I mean?
This is very, very important, so I am going to write this with great focus.
Naturally, choosing which industry to enter is the first thing everyone thinks about when considering starting a business.
At this point, you think, "What kind of work will I use to make a living from here on out?" right?
Of course, I think there are quite a few people who decide on their line of work without hesitation.
However, when faced with a major life event like starting a business, the words "I cannot fail" flicker before your eyes, and I suspect there are people who find it difficult to decide on an industry.
Because of that, I think most people start by searching online and doing research.
For example, businesses that are high on popularity rankings.
Or businesses that look like they will be trendy this year.
Or, businesses recommended by YouTubers.
Furthermore, businesses highly touted in information products.
And franchise businesses for independence and opening a business.
And so on.
No, I am not denying these. Just to be clear.
More than that, what I want to tell you here is
is the industry you decided on something you are good at?
.
I will be blunt.
As I wrote at the beginning, what makes it easier to succeed in entrepreneurship is
"competing on a playing field where you excel!"
This is it.
In other words,
✨Things you are good at
✨Things you can do
✨Things people have said to you, "Wow, you're amazing!"
✨Things people have asked you, "Can you do that for me again?"
🌀Things you like (sometimes this is impossible...)
You want to choose from these.
In other words, if there is something you are better at than the majority, that is your playing field.
And, choosing an industry where you can compete on this playing field will overwhelmingly increase your probability of success.
However, while "things you like" can become a job, they sometimes do not, so you need to be careful. In other words, it means there are times when you won't make any money at all.
I love fishing, but fishing doesn't make for a business, and I can't make a living from it.
I have thought about making fishing my job many times, but I realized it was impossible.
No matter how much you like something, depending on the genre, a business may not be viable.
You don't know if popular businesses or businesses recommended by others are right for you, so don't jump into them easily.
Even if you hear it's profitable, if you do something you've never done or don't know about while feeling anxious and timid, it won't last, and if you start to hate it, it's over immediately.
This is because business owners need strong motivation.
There is a fairy tale called "The Tortoise and the Hare." You know it, right.
In this story, the tortoise walks as hard as it can, albeit slowly, and ends up beating the hare, but the mistake was competing on land in the first place.
If it wanted to win easily, it should have competed in its element, the water. The hare cannot swim in deep water.
This is the tortoise's arena.
There are seals on the shore.
On the rocks, they are forced to waddle and usually just lie around, but once they dive into the water, they flip over and swim around energetically to hunt fish.
This is the seal's arena.
Crocodiles keep only their eyes above the water to target their prey.
If a lion gets close, they drag it into the water and finish it off.
This is the crocodile's arena.
Spiders build their own web arenas, and their job is to ensnare insects in these arenas.
If I were to have a speed-eating contest with a competitive eating YouTuber to see who could eat 10 bowls of ramen first, I would definitely lose.
If I were to race Kiryu in a 100m sprint at full speed, I would definitely lose.
What do you think?
Do you understand that these arenas are ones where they have an overwhelming advantage?
By the way, my strength is that I can shake hands with people immediately. In other words, I have overwhelming confidence in face-to-face sales.
I'm like a friendly dog (laughs).
So, that is my 'arena where I excel at face-to-face sales'.
The business I work on every day is also in an industry that involves interacting with people. It's not so much about whether I like it or not, but because I know that competing in this arena is how I can win.
Do you know the movie 'Zatoichi' starring Shintaro Katsu?
The blind protagonist's official profession is a masseur, but he is not very skilled at massage.
In reality, he is a master of iaijutsu in the yakuza world, and when attacked by henchmen, he draws his blade from his cane and cuts them down in an instant.
'You're no mere masseur!'
To the surprised henchmen,
'If I were just a masseur, I'd be dead by now...'
Zatoichi replies.
As Zatoichi himself says, his arena was a way of life where he lived on the edge of life and death with nothing but his cane sword in the world of blind yakuza.
Before you start your business, why not take a serious look at whether the arena you are choosing to compete in is truly one where you can win?
You must design an arena for yourself where you can say, 'I can win here!', and then gain experience by competing.
This is what business is all about.
Please, make sure you don't choose the wrong place to fight!
If you have already started a business and it is not going well, the problem might lie there. In some cases, it is necessary to take the bold step of changing your arena.
