“Letting go is creating space for the future” — Seeking fellow psychology note writers!
Letting go is not about losing, but about creating space for a new self.
The perspective on Adlerian psychology shared by Sunny Steps
is that
actions are chosen not by cause, but by
purpose.
We tend to look for causes, saying,
“Because it was like that back then, I became this way.”
However, Adler believed that
“what we want to do from here on”
is the driving force behind our actions.
Deciding what to let go of and what to keep is not determined by past memories,
but by hope and purpose for the future.
Thinking of it this way, tidying up or decluttering is not
about organizing and putting away memories,
but rather
creating space
for the future.
“The direction I aim for shapes who I am now.”
When I was able to think that way,
I felt
the next door in my heart quietly open.
Thank you for the wonderful article.
