[Parenting Essay] #9 Well, that's fun too, so I guess it's fine
Since I started writing on note,
there have been some small changes in my daily life.
It's nothing worth exaggerating, but
the most obvious one is
that "the time I spend reading other people's notes has increased."
Once you start writing yourself,
you naturally start paying attention to other people's writing as well.
By putting things out,
I feel like my rhythm for taking things in has also balanced out.
I think I was probably putting things out in some form
before this as well.
However, that wasn't
something I was clearly conscious of as "I am putting things out now."
Looking back,
it wasn't linguistic like note,
and yet it wasn't physical like exercise either.
If asked what it was then,
I can't really put it into words well at the moment.
So, for now, I'll
set this aside.
I've always liked puzzle games on my smartphone.
This is easy to understand.
The process you engage in is reflected directly in the result,
and the beginning and end are clearly defined.
I feel refreshed when I solve them,
and I feel a bit frustrated when I don't,
It's helpful that I can deal with things so cleanly, without letting them drag on into my daily time, like thinking, 'Why didn't I notice this back then?'
It's the perfect companion for days with children,
where massive amounts of fragmented time are produced.
Writing a note is a bit like a puzzle.
As I combine the fragments in my head into sentences,
my thoughts are surprisingly organized,
or conversely, I get stuck thinking, 'Why can't I put this into words well?'
The difference from a puzzle is that the shape remains,
and other people can see it.
That said,
what I've been feeling again recently is,
'Isn't there just too much content in the world?'
that is.
I don't have to worry about it,
so I guess it's fine.
Writing, photos, videos, audio—
all sorts of things are just
streaming in every day, more than enough.
Of course, that in itself is not a bad thing.
Because we live in an era where anyone can easily capture
and express themselves in that moment.
Each little fragment
becomes a foothold for that person,
and leads to the next step... yeah.
That accumulation
I think it surely acts in a direction
that enriches life, too.
However, for an HSS-type HSE like me,
there is a bit of a pitfall.
I'm curious about this, I'm curious about that—
my interests tend to scatter everywhere.
Before I know it, the number of people I want to follow
keeps increasing,
"I'm not keeping up with them at all!!"
is the kind of state I end up in.
This is just something I have to call my personality.
Even so, this flow of increasing
outputted content won't stop,
and it will surely accelerate even more in the future.
So, I have to learn to
adjust that for myself.
While maintaining how I engage with content day by day,
picking up and giving shape to the things
that my yesterday's self overlooked.
Through such repetitions,
I intend to keep moving myself forward little by little.
Well, if I were to sum it up in one word at the end—
It feels like, "My interests are scattered and it's tough, but well, that's fun too, so I guess it's fine."
Because, despite all the complaining,
I'm opening up note again today.
When I started note to enrich my life while facing the fraying edges of my days with my children,
it became too enriched,
and that ended up becoming a new fraying edge,
yeah, that's the story.

I've looked back on my experience posting on note for about a month.
If you've been engaging with note in your own way but are feeling a bit tired, please give this a read.
This is my most-liked “learning-style essay” among my recent posts. It includes introductions to parenting books and articles by other note users.
